Sunday 2nd March

10:00am Alice Levine

Monday 3rd March

4:00am Pete Allison in for Dev all week

Will be good to hear Alice on her own again, shame it's not the 10 am slot in the week.

Looking forward to hearing Pete again in for Dev. Why he isn't replacing Dev on early breakfast I will never know. Gemma over Pete, really?? Come on Radio 1, give Pete a permanent contract.

Good to see Alice on during the daytime again. Let's hope she becomes the full time cover for Fearne instead of Gemma Cairney eh !

I'm surprised to see that Dev is taking a holiday when he only has a few weeks left on earlies but he does deserve a break. How much longer will Pete Allison be used before he gets his own show I wonder? Could the plan be to give Gemma a prime time slot in a year or 2 with Pete replacing her on earlies?

Or perhaps give Gemma the early breakfast for a bit while they let Pete establish himself more, and then give Pete early breakfast?

7-9pm Annie Mac

9-11pm B.Traits

Perhaps this suggests that Alice Levine is the new stand-in for Matt Edmondson, now that Dev (who has stood-in for Matt for several weekends last year) is moving to weekend breakfast...

Pete Allison: Definitely will have something in the future. I'd like to think that Gemma Cairney is a short-term replacement for Dev. I'd rather her go back to BBC Radio 1Xtra! If she is lined up to replace Fearne Cotton in the future, over Alice Levine, I will be very disappointed in Ben Cooper.

Agreed. I guess Gemma must be an aquired taste, but I really cant see how they could ever let her on daytimes. She is like Jameela Jamil, utterly intolerable.

.

Not necessarily.Devs on holiday himself that week so can't do it.Probably Dev will continue to sit in for Matt after he takes over weekend breakfast with Alice or Adele siting in for Dev

Luckily, due to R1's weird habit of not letting cover presenters take over slots permanently, I have a feeling covering for Fearne is all she'll get. I think today's performance by Alice Levine at the Brits has cemented her place as the successor to Fearne. She undoubtedly earned herself a lot of fans today and it's unsurprising - she's fantastic !

Question: why does Zane Lowe never cover anyone anymore?

I can think of a couple of shows worth trying him on. Whether he does what Annie Mac sometimes does and sits in during the day and still do his evening show, or move him to a slot for the week and give Huw his gig... I don't know.

Zane's music style would go well on the breakfast show (remember when he did it a few years back?!) He could cover Fearne Cotton... have him on the late-night show 10-midnight one week just for a laugh! He can cover Rob da Bank, any of the dance anthem shows actually, Huw Stephens...

My point being is that I'd rather hear Zane at 10am than Gemma Cairney! Why do we have to have a female sitting in for Fearne all the time?

There was news earlier this month that Benga was 'retiring' from being a DJ yet they haven't changed the name of their show on the schedule. They also still announce Skream and Benga before Pete's show. It's odd.

I have a feeling that they'll get rid of Skream as well and replace him with B Traits. It's so obvious they want her to have her own prime time show on a friday night

I actually really love Skreams show (slightly improved since Bengas taken leave). However I think it would be better suited to Thursday night (swap with Toddla T or a move around for B.Traits) just think since he's gone massively down the house route its turned into 4 sometimes 6 (if the essential mix has a house dj) of non-stop house music. As popular as it is, it can be a bit much some weekends.

hello

    • I see Katie (and Mairead) were out with Jordan tonight.  I don’t listen to the show any longer, I am shocked they are allowed to mention Jordan.
    • At least I do not ask stupid questions…😂
    • I suggest you follow the other DJs too if so, you will learn the hardest working will go further 🤣
    • A simple check on his instagram would answer all your questions , he’s on tour with his wife and the team behind his podcast. I suggest anyone to follow the radio presenters, you will learn a lot about their other jobs and work commitments.
    • Where is Jamie? It felt like he was settling in when Vick wasn’t on but he’s not been on since last Tuesday now. They’ve not even mentioned him, in fact they’ve mentioned Jordan more than they’ve mentioned him in the last two days.
    • Scott's show is on the road next week, live from Malmö in Sweden on Wednesday and Friday, ahead of Eurovision. As he's doing the semi final coverage on the TV on Tuesday and Thursday alongside Rylan, Gary Davies sits in for him on those days.
    • I don't feel there's so much overlap between M&M and Scott's shows. M&M is of a similar calibre to Scott & Chris on R1, with genuine laugh out loud moments and usually a show packed full of real interesting content. Scott's R2 show is IMO a shadow of the stuff he did on R1 (not his fault, he's doing exactly what station management want), with music and content to appeal to a much older audience.
    • To be fair, Scott & Chris would've still been fine on Radio 1. It was mentioned at the time that Scott's move was very much on Radio 2's part rather than Radio 1 wanting to move them on. That's the one problem that Radio 2 has, trying to appeal to such a wide demographic.. it's the perfect listen for many, but equally a turn off for many others. I think they have the balance fairly right.
    • I agree Scott has always been a good standalone presenter, but always better when with someone. When chappers left the radio one show it felt a different show and Chris joining was what it needed and brought new life. for the format of the radio 2 show Scott’s show fits well with the station but again, there’s the huge gap between radio1 and 2 As been said already old radio2 listeners feel it now feels too young with latest changes, yet old radio1 listeners still feel radio 2 feels too old. The inbetween stage demographic of too old for radio 1 but too young for radio 2 is still not catered for radio 2 was left to grow old with its audience for too long and to change things up now feels to try and change a brand image the right thing to do is leave it as it is and cater for that 1.5 demographic which I’m sure the new proposed 00s and 10s station will do if approved. Problem is it’s so overdue that by the time it gets off the ground these listeners are already likely to be lost and the changing image of radio2 likely to lose what it stands for as a brand with the “it’s too young now “  moving to boom and the “ it still sounds old “ crowd not able to move with their favourite presenters like Scott so finding themself on capital a radio 1.5 would have been perfect for Scott and Chris, seems unlikely but this is why I think who branding of bbc radio needs a rethink if these new stations get off ground
    • Bank Holiday Monday Schedule 6am-10am: Arielle Free in for Greg 10am-2pm: Dean & Vicky (No Rickie, Melvin & Charlie) 2pm-6pm: Vick & Jamie (No Katie) 6pm onwards: As normal.
    • Dare I say they've sounded great this past week?  Very much gelling.  Maybe less pressure?  Seem to be having a genuinely good time and not forcing things.
    • I'm in the minority in my workplace, most of them love country music.  Me, the American, does not care for it.  That said, I haven't haaaaaated some of the country adjacent stuff that's been on the R1 playlist.
    • The Eurovision semi finals are on from 8 to 10pm on Tuesday 7th and Thursday 9th May with Richie Anderson. That means Sara Cox in on till 8 on those days.  Saturday 11th May is Eurovision 'Super Saturday... 1-3pm Your Ultimate Abba song with Gary Davies  3-6pm Michelle Visage's Eurovision All Stars 6-8pm Eurovision Request Party with Owain Wynn Evans 8pm Eurovision Grand Final with Scott Mills and Rylan Clark
    • It is funny because everyone thought Matt was on the way out, now he's been described as the heir to Mills.
