Chris Moyles has had talks about presenting a show on BBC Radio 2 in a move that is likely to prompt further speculation about his departure from the Radio 1 breakfast show !!

Radio 2 executives are understood to have approached Moyles about the project, which would explore his interest in 1980s pop music.

Industry sources said he would continue to present the breakfast show on Radio 1, in addition to the new Radio 2 series, if it goes ahead.

However, it would be his first show for Radio 2 and a significant development in the career of the presenter who has been in the Radio 1 breakfast hot seat since 2004.

A spokeswoman for Moyles said: "The show would give Chris an opportunity to show people his knowledge about music rather than just his Radio 1 persona".

Moyles is contracted to remain with the BBC until 2014, but this does not necessarily mean all the time at Radio 1.

I would like to hear something completely different as well like this. he already does the 'older' stuff on the golden hour well, and seems to love doing it, so yeh, something like this may be good.

The problem with the Golden Hour is that they can't play songs much older than 1995.

They should randomly pick a morning, and just go right back anyway !!

Moyles seems to like to play pieces of 80s songs some mornings, and seems to enjoy showing off his musical knowledge.

He likes 70s too, I'd imagine this morning he played quite a bit of Bee Gees, was him who played the full version of Hocus Pocus by Focus a lot around the time of the World Cup too?

Er.... Robin gibb was mentioned, but that was kind of it........ radio two (jeremy vine in particular) really went to town, discussing him and playing his music. worth a listen again for today. There will also be a bee gees' special show thursday at eight pm.

The station bosses probably wouldn't be too happy if he played music that old, even if it is good or something new to a lot of people. It's not really target audience so they're not interested.

He could just be having another show for the hell of it. Sara covers for some R2 djs sometimes, but she ain't leaving.
