Newsbeat outside of The Chris Moyles Show will be shared by 1xtra so more crashing the news incidents and 2:00-4:00am will be shared. Introducing shows will only have the 1 show I guess.

Was thinking as presenters crash the news so many times at the weekend why can't the newsreaders do radio 1 first and then the same reader read the same bulletin when the next song finishes on 1xtra

To be fair these changes seem quite minimal, but both of your suggestions about sharing newsreaders but not the actual live bulletin would make more sense though. Simulcasting the 2-4am slot doesn't sound as horrific to me now as it did at first. Simulcasting Benji B, Gilles Peterson and Annie Nightingale makes sense but The Punk Show, Kutsi and the Essential Mix obviously wouldn't work so I guess that means minor schedule changes are on the way for the specialist shows and the culling of more specialist genre shows and DJs on 1Xtra once again..

thats a good point where does the punk show fit in on 1xtra.

Summary of BBC management’s key proposals

Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra

•

Build the on-air relationship between Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra

•

Share news bulletins except at breakfast when bespoke news would continue on each station

•

Simulcast programmes between 2am-4am Monday to Friday

•

Replace the current late night Nations’ opt-out programmes on Radio 1 with a single programme that offers a UK-wide platform for undiscovered, unsigned music and emerging talent from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

I dont know about anyone else, but ima getting bored of 1xtra adverts on Radio 1. If I wanted to listen to it, I would.

that and doubling up on radio 1 doing that 1xtra presents thing. i thought the point was to have two seperate stations?

on the grid.
