Zane on breakfast

Haven't listened that much, but apparently the music is awesome. But Zane's evening show is great music-wise so there you go. Moyles just has playlist stuff on, the banter/conversation/actual show is much better there.

yeah but Moyles often tries to get out of playlist stuff if he doesn't like it anyways, and also gives us the Golden Hour etc which is a break from Playlist.

I suppose, he does his best. There's probably rules he has to follow as to what he can play.

I really haven't enjoyed having Zane on breakfast I'm afraid.

Whilst I think he's absolutely fabulous at 7pm, he really isn't my cup of tea at 7am.

I also like Annie Mac very much, but again I feel she is far more suited to an evening show.

Huw can do no wrong in my eyes. He's been doing a fantastic job. He has an excellent taste in music, he also appears to work very well as both a day-time and a night-time DJ.

I have really enjoyed Huw and Grimmy. I like Annie and Zane but at that time in the morning I can give or take it. I think the reaction has been pretty good though on the whole.

I could imagine Radio 1 where Moyles did breakfast, Huw did mornings, Zane on afternoons and Grimmy on drive.

I do miss the playlist when I just want to unwind though. All the new music doesn't provide that familiarity I often like about Radio 1.

Generally I've enjoyed listening to Zane on breakfast, he has played some very good music this week that you wouldn't normally get to hear on daytime R1 and the 'Versus' rounds between 9 and 10 have been quite entertaining as well. Having said that though I do think his presenting style is better suited to evenings, the constant shouting and 'who's on board'-ing is a little much for that time in the morning.

I guess that's a bit like Mark and Lard, they weren't at their best on Breakfast either (though still better than what followed between them being on there up to Moyles getting the Breakfast gig, IMO) but brilliant when they were moved to the right slot in the afternoon.

    • https://youtu.be/A_Cycjg5_9A?si=NiLTFeiTNWBExFoR   As barmy as Sam Ryder has now gone, as shown in this video. I'd still rather it than that bland Olly Alexander record.
    • I like Scott, and I listen to Rylan's show every week... they do sound great together on Eurovision etc but.. as for a daily show together, I don't think it would work. Rylan would probably have to reign it in a bit which would lose his appeal, otherwise it may become too chaotic, in my opinion. That Saturday slot is perfect for Rylan, his rapport with Sally Traffic and Lottie is great. I suppose it comes down to cost as well and if he would want a daily show?   Radio 2 are clearly happy with Scott's show, and considering he's just won Best Entertainment Show at the ARIA's, I can't see them changing much.
    • A win for Scott which is fantastic after the last few years he's been through!
    • Am I outnumbered for not wanting to work in radio? It feels like there's a lot of geeks that want a job in the industry here.
    • Thought Sam and Danni were robbed of an award.
    • OJ Borg is in for Trevor Nelson on the Rhythm Nation tonight (with Phill Williams on overnight). He's also in for Michael Ball for the next two Sundays (12th and 19th May). Ros Atkins (BBC's Analysis editior) is in for Jeremy Vine on Thursday. Another new name to Radio 2 is Oliver Hides from BBC Radio Wales. He sat in for Owain Wynn Evans yesterday and he's in again this Thursday (9th May) and Bank Holiday Monday (27th) Spoony in for Scott Mills from Tuesday 28th till Friday 31st May.
    • Thought they would make it easier to get to this event. There's been no communication from the council or organisers about travel, even though there's talk of train strikes. Smaller councils have done a better job.
    • They do sound good together, but I'm not sure Rylan will want the extra commitments.
    • I have accepted Chris is unlikely to join Scott's show, and that Chappers has moved on, but I still think he could do with a co-host. The most logical solution, I think, is Rylan. He appears more often on his show than not, and they are great together. Radio 2 could lose Rylan's Saturday show and extend his reach by appearing during the week. I think they'd be great!
    • Tattoo took a while to grow on me. I couldn't see the fuss until weeks after. We have a split household here where the war on Gaza is overshadowing an enjoyment. I'm hoping for a protest of some sort.
    • I've heard that the staging is very impressive.  That and him being "known" might prevent an embarrassing result.  I'm a terrible judge of Eurovision though as Tattoo is still so very meh to me.
    • Feels like after the success of Sam Ryder we are going back to our old ways. Olly Alexander's song is pretty weak. Anyone fancy our chances this year?
    • The more time goes on the more you think if they'd actually put some thought into it it should've been Vick & Katie from the start. A proven pairing and Katie ended up on the show anyway - whereas Katie's even mentioned she was only asked to join after the Jamie announcement And even by Going Home standards on time off, it's quite funny that a few months in we still haven't had a full week of the supposed line-up - and that's with a 4-day week.
