Scott Mills invited to Gareth from Chard's wedding

A CHARD man who became a celebrity on BBC Radio when he was looking for love has finally met his match.

Gareth Smith, 26, a former Holyrood School pupil, found fame in 2006 when he won the One Night with Laura competition on the Scott Mills show on BBC Radio One.

Gareth, who now lives in America, beat off thousands of competitors to win the title. Unfortunately the romance with show producer Laura Sayers was short lived and didn’t go beyond the first date in Disneyland Paris.

But the former Air Control Solutions employee has now found love in Tennessee and is due to marry in September.

He met his American bride-to-be Meghan Campbell-Smith in New Zealand while travelling two years ago and moved out to America to live with her about a year ago.

Gareth was mentioned once again on the Scott Mills show yesterday morning (August 9) as his sister Hayley texted in to the station’s Dear Scott feature.

Hayley, 22, asked Scott if he wanted to come along to the wedding for a Tennessee-style ho-down. The News has sent a message to the show this morning campaigning for him to fly out.

Hayley, said: “We’re hopeful Scott is going to come – we’re going to send him out an invitation.”

Scott didn’t rule out attending and asked on air to be sent more details of the wedding. While Gareth is currently unaware of the attention he is getting back home Hayley is sure he would be happy to see Scott again.

Hayley added: “Gareth got on very well with him when he was on the show.”

I can't help thinking this story is so last season, you know. All this stuff (while v. entertaining at the time) is long over.

*yawns* My headache is beginning to worsen today, I swear.

Lily allen discussions in the R1 section, and now this... somebody pass me the f****** paracetamol.

Delta Machine, Depeche Mode - buy NOW !!

OF COURSE! You're going to see their one man shows??? Autographs from all please, including my name.

Wtf? Drink? Is there a drink? Oh jeez. I think T is going to bring me back a singed pic of him. thats what he gave me last year... :(

Have you never watched Gavin & Stacey?

'Would you like a tea or coffee, ____?

'Oh, I'll have half each please.'

'What?'

'Tea in the bottom half, coffee in the top. I call it a key. Or a toffee. But you can't ask for that in a cafe, because they just give you a toffee. Or a key.'

Me (Doris), Ermentrude, Babs and Leonard have regular meeting, drinking toffee/keys & eating fudge. (: (In our minds anyway.) It's rather joyful, Leonard often sits outside my house in a yellow/orange body suit, drinking toffee/key, whilst I watch The Bill.

OMASM. Radio presenters are like fruit. Matt is my kumquat and Scott is blatantly my orange.

NOOOOOO!

Btw, I do not wear stolen heels. I prefer pumps...

Leonard is a quite nice, very religous boy with a terrible taste in music, I have never met. Ermentrude fancies him. I have no chance.
