Was looking at Jeremy Clarkson's column today and he's right. People are afraid to tell any joke in fear of insulting people with a punch line. Chris Moyles and him were rapped for being anti-gay. Jokes are there to draw people closer together, such as when you say someone looks awful in a new piece of clothing. But when it comes to certain discussions with Muslims you can't in fear you'll insult them - how can you be try to get to know someone that way? But then there's the French... they're not kicking up a fuss when we joke about them. They mock us and we mock them... and that's a close friendship. We're not burning their flags, they're not burning ours.

Totaly agree, look at all the english man, irish man, scottish man jokes there has been. Just friendly banter but I suppose some people are just more defensive than others.

Its almost impossible to say anything whatsoever without being insulting anybody. Gone are the days where you could speak freely without the fear of getting into bother about saying something completely innocent that has been misconstrued. I mean even the nursery song ba ba black sheep for example is now not politically correct and could even be seen by some to be racist. Why does the sheep have to be black???

At the hospital its the same. Some of the older nurses there have said things like a few years ago in the old style of hospitals you can joke with the patients and it'd be fine, if you do that these days your up for a disciplinary! Its getting that bad!

      I suspect they’re gonna tie the announcement into something, or they’ve changed plans. I know we’ve said it as a joke but I wonder if Aled was planning on giving it to someone like Danny Beard, but he’s decided against that after the last few weeks. Seems clear to me, though, that if Jordan hadn’t left, then Katie would’ve taken Dean and Vicky’s slot and Matt and Mollie would’ve stayed on weekends, which probably explains why they haven’t picked a replacement yet. If it was going to be the obvious choice, I.e. James Cusack, surely they would’ve announced it by now..?

      Yep think they mentioned that this is their penultimate weekend of shows but then they will also be on air during Big Weekend and they mentioned they'll be doing 'Party Anthems' on stage during Big Weekend which sounds intriguing. Will miss Matt & Mollie on weekends - they in particular have made that Friday afternoon slot their own - but they'll be great on weekdays. Do wonder if 'Summer on Radio 1' is just a placeholder name until they decide on who will cover the interim. While it's obviously not the case it does feel like they've forgotten there's that weekend afternoon slot to fill given no permenant presenter has been announced for it yet.

      When Matt covered breakfast on 22nd April, he said their new show was starting in 10 weeks, so that’d be the 1st July.

      I think more likely it'll just be a temp presenter for weekends 1-4 to give Matt & Mollie time off, plus time to plan and pilot the new show.

      Yeah I don’t think they’ll be anything that drastic - maybe a week or 2 of cover on early breakfast etc, but maybe just having that weekend afternoon slot covered over the summer means they can put someone on from September who maybe isn’t available until then?

      I wouldn't be surprised if they do this around June time: 05.00 Ore Olukoga 07.00 Greg James 10.30 RMC 14.00 VKJ  That'll probably happen (for my guess) from the 17th June.       The Summer on Radio 1 thing makes me wonder whether they might be doing something similar to last year again where they have a temporary schedule over the summer before introducing changes in September - maybe the new host won’t start until after the summer?

      There was talk on my Big Weekend group from the council about them waiting for Ticketmaster to send an email out. They said they've been waiting a week. Maybe they're waiting for train strike confirmation first.
