I think there’s a little bit of hedging going on (has been for a few years) of not shedding all of the older audience, as the very young end of the target audience isn’t listening as much.  I suspect this is why it’s happened to an extent at Capital.  Tie this in with the fact that younger people now have access to streaming and the rest and this anecdotally I think gives them a wider range of eras of music to you listen to (going off what I see people my age listen to; extremely eclectic and quirky mix of stuff). 

If they haven't changed their emergency tape since 2004 we may get a few blasts of Outkast Hey Ya followed by The Sugababes Hole In The Head... Running gag from the old days that.

I started listening to you both and radio 1 during lockdown, hearing you both really inspired me to become a presenter on R1 some day. Hopefully I might get to work with you both sometime.

Literally came to say this. 02:30 in the morning, it was like a weird dream! The 'Jazz FM' clip being the highlight. The first Lolathon the best they did imo!
I do vaguely remember listening to some of the prank call stuff on drivetime when I was younger.. it's good some of it's still on YouTube.

There could be lots of reasons for people not publicly posting, as others above have mentioned. But, as with anyone anywhere starting a new job, I hope Dean and Vicky will be welcomed, just like I wish Scott to be welcomed by his R2 colleagues and Chris to be welcomed by his Capital colleagues. The decision was made by the bosses not by the other presenters (I assume).
I'm sure Dean & Vicky fans are thrilled to have them on in the afternoons. It won't make much of a difference to me as I'm looking forward to following what Scott and Chris do next, as much as I'm going to miss having them on together.

Guys, give the guy a break. I saw some of you in the chat talking how Radio 2 listeners don’t want change and complaining about Scott taking Steve’s show. But you’re doing exactly the same.
Yes, Dean is different from Scott and Chris. But Scott is also different from Steve Wright. What radio stations are trying to do from time to time is to change things a bit and experiment. And that exactly what’s happening in both Radio 1 and 2. 
Everybody wins in current situation. Radio 1 gets to try new things and fresh talent in afternoon slot, Katie is getting a permanent slot and Matt and Mollie still hosts a big show and get to cover Breakfast.

Jack is in for Clara Monday 20th to Thursday 23rd June.

For me, it’s the playlist, the presenters and the news output. 
Radio 1 has a much wider and more varied playlist than its commercial rivals, and I love the fact that they devote more airtime to smaller artists, many of whom just aren’t being played by competing stations.
The presenters on Radio 1 are given greater freedom to be themselves on air, rather than having to stick to short and sometimes very infrequent links, which greatly reduces the personality of a presenter in my opinion. Listeners are therefore much more able to connect with presenters, and are often featured as part of their shows. Greg in particular features listeners for much of his show, which is what makes it such a fun and entertaining listen. 
 
Newsbeat provides regular bulletins which make the news of the day to more accessible to young people, without any patronisation. Radio 1 are the only radio station I know of that air two long-form (ie longer than 2/3 minutes) news bulletins each weekday, which is therefore a unique service.
Overall, Radio 1 know how to make radio interesting and exciting for a generation of people who have many options when it comes to entertainment, and are succeeding at getting them to listen.

Interesting interview with Jordan North. It looks like they're really hoping Jordan and Vick can shake off a London-centric image due to their backgrounds. Particularly those who don't own radios anymore.

The end of an era: Round 2. Really enjoying this week's shows, especially the nighttime flashbacks and the music, looking forward to tomorrow.

I can see him staying on daytimes for a good number of years more, why move him when he’s still at the top of his game?  Great news he’s signed a new contract.

Brilliant news, he is still one of the top at the station and I hope he doesn’t go anywhere for a very long time.

Annie.
Of all the DJ’s to come and go she’s one who should be in the conversation for biggest impact ever. Growing up she’s always been the voice of dance music. I regret not tuning in each week for her now. But when I did. I always loved her passion. She’s a great loss to the station. 

Absolutely loved last night's Grimmy & Annie (does anyone call them Gr'Annie?) co-host, shows why they're both going to be so missed - was a wonderful trip down memory lane.
Here goes the last show - so sad it's the end but you know it's going to be brilliant.

Last night’s penultimate show was a brilliant listen, with Grimmy and Annie essentially hosting a two hour nostalgia trip.
Last show starting in a few minutes, and it really feels like the end of an era, as Annie’s show has introduced me and many many others to loads of new music over the years.
I’m sure Clara will do a great job at championing new artists on Radio 1, and I’m excited to hear the new era of the station. 

The other similar events in the past took around two days to complete, but this may be longer due to travel time between relevant locations 

For 4 weeks from Monday 9th August there will be 2 fewer shows per day Monday-Thursday, as follows:

14.00-18.00 Nick Grimshaw for the first week, Scott for the rest
18.00-21.00 Future Sounds - interim presenter TBC

Not sure if they will do something similar Fri-Sun, also not sure what's happening the week before from 2nd August as Annie has left by that point.  So it looks like Clara's last mid-morning show and RMC's last evening show will both be on Thursday 5th August.
 
Also, Alex & Numi (August's Fri early brek presenters) are in for Arielle 9th-12th August.

Altough.. I do hope we get one last hide and seek with Greg and Grimmy. That was the best live radio I’ve ever listened to.

Today Annie asked Grimmy to co-host with her on the 29th of July, it's gonna be a must listen.

Greg was hinting at "one final thing with Grimmy" this morning, so I'm definitely hoping hide and seek is on the cards
