  1. I know it's a different kettle of fishh because Roman isn't moving to a rival station, but the contrast between Roman announcing he is leaving and the outpouring of love, and the BBC cancelling Jordan I find really jarring.

    BBC needs more Scott

It's clear there's a gap in the afternoons for our generation who don't want celebrity hirings. Seems a waste to only use Scott for two hours each day. It feels like the answer is more Scott! Shame he can't return to radio one!

  3. I do think this is worrying times for radio 1. As an old head I recall Moyles leaving but you felt there was a solid guaranteed future for the station. Scott still there, big experienced names to sort stuff out when it got tough. It was the same when Mark and Lard went, Simon Mayo, Chris Evans etc years and years back. But now it feels like with Jordan North going it's going to sound like a load of teenagers giggling amongst themselves. And I point to mid mornings on that imo. Radio 1 need a big young star who can present, and who's already popular to come in and create a fuss. And I mean someone who can be relevant for the next gen, not radio 1s current target audience. Aim for 2030.

Hi Scott, Can you or your listeners help me name this song? It goes: Do, do, do do, do... Do, do, do, doo... do, do, dooo... Do, dooo, doo, doo, dooo... And repeats like this. It's a dance track, only a small amount of words, if any. I remember it in the early 2000s. I think the video starts with an aeroplane at an airport with someone getting undressed. All help appreciated! Love you!

  5. Not exactly a ringing endorsement then for the future of Radio 1. Maybe some of them will improve over time but they don't seem particularly to be at the calibre of say Katie, Arielle or Matt who are a perfect 'safe pair of hands' on whatever show they are given. Nat seems to feel like part of that Manchester group including Dean & Vicky who were promoted too far too soon . Can't help thinking as time goes on that those 2022 changes were a bit of a misstep. If they wanted shows outside London then Katie Thistleton easily could've done a show plus within a year anyway Sam & Danni were doing shows outside London. Also Ore seems to be the go-to 'emergency' cover at the moment. Whatever happened to Gregor Davidson?

  7. Time to go back to the basics I feel. Play some good songs and entertain the audience with some good presenter content, not silly games with random presenters. I can see why some people have said it's turned cringe recently. Any chance we can have Scott and Chris back with Granny Tinder?

  8. Now that's how you react to someone leaving. Could have been much more fun and sympathetic.

  10. As one of the others on here with slightly more Radio 1 hours behind us - I would agree completely here. I think what Jordan was, was the bridge between older and new. I think Greg, RMC and Matt leaving would have been smoother with Jordan there. They really need Greg to stay for at least 2 years now.

  11. I really can't listen to Jamie Laing so that will be me away. I will probably switch to Capital Breakfast but I can see me spending the rest of the day with Radio 2. Except Fridays when I will come back to Radio 1 for Katie then Matt & Mollie.

It’s no secret that Matt and Mollie are my favs and would be the best breakfast show replacements. That said, they both struggle with early mornings, have kids too so who knows if that’s what they’d want. I think they’d want drive or afternoon. But they have a lot of good games, they’re very popular - even more so than the weekday DJs. I can’t believe I’m about to say this but Dean actually sounds far better than he ever has when he subbed in recently for Greg. He wasn’t annoying and actually seemed a polish DJ. He might be the new host as Aled thinks the demographic like him but he is universally disliked across all platforms. If he tones down the attention seeking and gets a good producer then he might be worth listening to.

  13. Exactly - I love Jordan lots - easily my favourite radio presenter of recent years but I 100% get the BBC's position which has been dramatically affected by what Greatest Hits Radio did with Ken Bruce. They are bound to be mighty p'd off that one of their biggest talents is leaving them. I think Aled's words were respectful but low-key. You start to wonder if this is why Jordan didn't cover Breakfast at the start of the year as all this was starting. This won't have started this week but been an ongoing dialogue. I just hope the move to Capital works for Jordan. I get the impression the big commercial stations have a more liberal attitude to how their Breakfast presenter behaves versus the rest of the schedule.

  14. As I said earlier (I am a radio professional and know these things) he will be bound by an NDA about the new job so cannot comment. The Beeb would have put him on Gardening leave immediately as his new role is a conflict of interest.

One example I knew was: Alex Gaudino - What a Feeling Example - Changed the Way You Kiss Me Chris Brown - Beautiful People You're right though; they refresh them every so often so they don't get too stale
