Madonna is Ma-Gonna!

COULD this be the beginning of the end of MADONNA's reign as the Queen Of Pop?

The powers that be at Radio 1 have snubbed Madge by failing to playlist her new single Celebration.

The track, which sees the pop-skeleton collaborate with dance legend PAUL OAKENFOLD, has not made the A, B or C list for the UK's most popular and influential station.

And after some digging through chart history, that's the first time one of her singles has not made the playlist.

Madonna can console herself in the knowledge that at least Radio 2 have found a place for the song and have been playing it for the past two weeks.

This has been coming for a while.

Her Madgesty's last album, Hard Candy, didn't do as well as expected. Probably because it was rubbish.

I'm also sick of the sight of her parading around in her undercrackers.

On September 29 Madge will release her latest Greatest Hits compilation, also called Celebration.

I think I'll celebrate when she finally puts her feet up and calls it a day.

F***.

Hard Candy was not rubbish!! It wasn't the best album, but it was still better than a lot of the pish that other "artists" come up with!!

Celebration was on the floorfillers last night, so at least Scott loves her.

I suspect it's yet more R1 ageism bullshit, seeing as R1 seem to be going through what I consider a black period where they are making mistakes in who they are moving about, and who they are hiring, and all to attract a young audience, who secretly privately resent the fact they are spoken to like a bunch of f****** 10 year olds.

It's just a pile of shit, it really is.

Viv: Well, you'll be waiting a bloody while!! :x:x

"COULD this be the beginning of the end of MADONNA's reign as the Queen Of Pop?" - that's been said since the very beginning, and every year ever after.

Get over it. Live with her. (mad)

Well, if you've got it, flaunt it!! why should the charts only be dominated by the young??

If it's not the pants, it's her arms, it's the content of the music; it's the clothes.. in short, she'll just do what she wants to do anyway, and I love it!!

Even Lady Gaga seems to be taking some kind of cue from Madonna. On TMF, she was saying, "You can be smart, and in your underwear" - absolutely!!

Go, Madonna!!!

Will you be able to do the splits at 50?? Or would you not try, because Society says you're "past it".

Like she said in an interview with an Italian magazine back in around 1995, the only time she will finally have people saying nice things about her will be after her death!! It's very sad... it makes me so damn sad, it really does.

ALED!!!!! Are you around? Why is Madonna not on the playlist?? Can you explain this?

Considering the article makes the point that every one of Madonna's singles ever has been on the playlist, it's very unfair to level the charge of ageism at Radio 1. Maybe, just maybe, they just think it's not a very good song. Simple as that.

HA!!! And right there, you have proved exactly the point I am getting at. A station more & more obsessed with "young things" at the moment... and getting it wrong.

ps: It made the floorfillers last night, which pleased me immensely!!

Just to contradict myself, U2 were in with Edith, were they not?? The ageing U2. So that's OK.

I'm more hacked off by Paul Oakenfold being snubbed, to be honest. Mind you, I'm sure plenty of cash rolls in from the Big Brother theme, so he'll be fine.

It's a pretty crap song, only made bearable by a decent mix, created by a rather impressive producer.

This is what Madonna has done throughout her career; chosen her producers extremely well. Maybe this is her forte, as opposed to the singing bit?

Not too keen on seeing her in her 'undercrackers' either really. Whilst I'd agree she's in very good shape; I reckon she could be a little less exhibitionist.

U2 Have only made one decent album, and that was quite a while ago.

'To disagree with three-fourths of the British public is one of the first requisites of sanity'.

Oh!! Someone else always has to get the credit don't they!!! I like her voice!! It's not the best of voices, but it's somehow beautiful and very vulnerable.

The forte perhaps lies with the fact she never gives up, sheer force of will, ability to tap into what's going on underground and take it over the top, constant image changes, energy and never standing still?? Where are all her contemporaries off of the 80s, or did they just not get the "right" producers?

I do think this is another ageism stunt by Radio 1. As ever, Madonna can spot a trend and is using it to her advantage. In the case it's the 'Euphoria' type thing, kind of using elements of trance (mmm...'90s)- as Calvin Harris did with "I'm Not Alone" and on Dizzee's "Holiday". So I can't see how it's not relevant- I also think it's a good song, maybe a bit of a grower. As for parading around in her underwear- I don't see why not! It's gets people talking, and publicity is something Madonna's always been good at.

Really? Never noticed that. :|

they were hyping it to the max & she didn't deliver.

i doubt it will be down to that, but i think they may have not playlisted Madonna because she is to established & will be trying to be seen to be helping the smaller bands & singers.

:)

It just doesn't sound like a dance track Radio 1 would play outside of floor fillers.
