Speculation of Nihal and Westwood's shows

Nihal on twitter has commented on Twitter that he has a new project in the pipeline following the axing of his show from weekends.

Let's assume it's not on the same scale as the plans Spoony spoke of!

I can't see how he can fit in to doing any more daytime though? Must be a specialist show.

I don't see it being a Radio 1 show. We shall just have to wait and see. Would he fit in at 1Xtra? There's a huge gap now Dev is leaving in the weekday schedule which surely will need shaking up. I could see a regular Bobby and Nihal show which sees them doing more than just night times.

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm glad Nihal's staying on at Radio 1. Hopefully he'll be in some form of daytime position but I'd imagine it'll probably be specialist.

Shows eh? Hmm.

On another note, Kelly Osbourne is still under my username. Is she officially gone from Radio 1 then?

Looks like an INMWT shakeup.

TimWestwood:

changes in the radio game are gettin announced - watch these tweets!

Yeah I just saw that. It could be 1Xtra news but I think it's going to be a big INMWT shake up.

Well Nihal seems to confirm that it's going to be an INWMT shake-up and that it's imminent.

@jonoread any time now I've been told Jono.

    • I like Scott, and I listen to Rylan's show every week... they do sound great together on Eurovision etc but.. as for a daily show together, I don't think it would work. Rylan would probably have to reign it in a bit which would lose his appeal, otherwise it may become too chaotic, in my opinion. That Saturday slot is perfect for Rylan, his rapport with Sally Traffic and Lottie is great. I suppose it comes down to cost as well and if he would want a daily show?   Radio 2 are clearly happy with Scott's show, and considering he's just won Best Entertainment Show at the ARIA's, I can't see them changing much.
    • But a win for Scott which is fantastic!
    • Overall awards reflect a lot of momentum in commercial radio. A side note but didn't they once stream this?
    • Am I outnumbered for not wanting to work in radio? It feels like there's a lot of geeks that want a job in the industry here.
    • Thought Sam and Danni were robbed of an award.
    • OJ Borg is in for Trevor Nelson on the Rhythm Nation tonight (with Phill Williams on overnight). He's also in for Michael Ball for the next two Sundays (12th and 19th May). Ros Atkins (BBC's Analysis editior) is in for Jeremy Vine on Thursday. Another new name to Radio 2 is Oliver Hides from BBC Radio Wales. He sat in for Owain Wynn Evans yesterday and he's in again this Thursday (9th May) and Bank Holiday Monday (27th) Spoony in for Scott Mills from Tuesday 28th till Friday 31st May.
    • Thought they would make it easier to get to this event. There's been no communication from the council or organisers about travel, even though there's talk of train strikes. Smaller councils have done a better job.
    • They do sound good together, but I'm not sure Rylan will want the extra commitments.
    • I have accepted Chris is unlikely to join Scott's show, and that Chappers has moved on, but I still think he could do with a co-host. The most logical solution, I think, is Rylan. He appears more often on his show than not, and they are great together. Radio 2 could lose Rylan's Saturday show and extend his reach by appearing during the week. I think they'd be great!
    • Tattoo took a while to grow on me. I couldn't see the fuss until weeks after. We have a split household here where the war on Gaza is overshadowing an enjoyment. I'm hoping for a protest of some sort.
    • I've heard that the staging is very impressive.  That and him being "known" might prevent an embarrassing result.  I'm a terrible judge of Eurovision though as Tattoo is still so very meh to me.
    • Feels like after the success of Sam Ryder we are going back to our old ways. Olly Alexander's song is pretty weak. Anyone fancy our chances this year?
    • The more time goes on the more you think if they'd actually put some thought into it it should've been Vick & Katie from the start. A proven pairing and Katie ended up on the show anyway - whereas Katie's even mentioned she was only asked to join after the Jamie announcement And even by Going Home standards on time off, it's quite funny that a few months in we still haven't had a full week of the supposed line-up - and that's with a 4-day week.
    • I heard something about what is your favourite wood? Wtf 😂
    • Was the same vibe on the Easter Monday show they did too. Just random questions and the like…. Katie is definitely the glue around making the show listenable.
