I loved it a few months ago when Greg did The Surgery then did his regular show and he was going a bit mad at 4.30am and producer Neil was like 'What the hell is wrong with you? That link was crap, do it again!' :)

I do believe thsi is what you meant ;)

I like how he knows by name who is regulars are. I made the point in another thread that he does actually seem to love doing Early Breakfast.

funnily enough I'm a regular on the early breakfast show and GJ called me up just before the flash flash game on NYE. Unfortunately we got cut off and I couldnt call him back, but I got told the girlfriends dad commented on how he was talkin to me as if he knew who I was (I had the phone on loudspeaker cos I was driving at the time)

That has been known to get a bit odd now and again. I like how he knows by name who is regulars are. I made the point in another thread that he does actually seem to love doing Early Breakfast.

He has more passion for it than anyone I've heard before. I bet that's not been witnessed since Mills and Moyles. He also seems to have more freedom on early breakfast so it would a shame if he moved further on for the time being. And from how it appears, that's not a problem for Greg.

I love Greg James. End of. I think he's fantastic. I also like how he talks to Newsbeat, speaking of which I thought they were getting new jingles for 2009?

They won't relaunch them until the weekend before Moyles returns or the Monday he returns. It's usually a weekend as Moyles is the first to pick up on it and I dare say they'll do it when he's back.

They just said they're being remixed/reworked. I doubt they'll be entirely new stuff

Remixed is still very new. It'll be enough to spark plenty of geeky debate I'm sure.

On topic, I imagine they could have saved a lot of money by using Greg's jingles.

Well he did that line for my panto when he phoned me after I asked him loads. I text in all the time, and comment his blog, and did the flash flash song and he's replied to one of my emails. So I think Ive done all I can for him to remember me :-p

If thats not enough I dont know how much more I can do without getting a restraining order taken out on me

Ha yeah I have found that noone actually shouts the flash flash when they are actually on the phone. But don't worry I happily flashed my headlights and fog light at people while driving. Can't understand when I get gestures, do they not understand??!!!:D

It'd be really nice to be a 'regular caller' for a show, especially with Greg who does take the time to respond to emails and all that - just a pity I'm never up at that time of day!

I sent an 'open letter' to him during one run of afternoon shows, I think in July, done with audio joking about how no-one responds to him and his offers for them to be welcomed along to the show, and so to make him feel better, I was sending him a letter instead. It ended like the ones on the show, with "and here's a song for you" or whatever, but then "wait, no, I don't want more angry emails from lawyers", and I got an email back from him asking me what song I would have chosen! T'was rather nice.

    • https://youtu.be/A_Cycjg5_9A?si=NiLTFeiTNWBExFoR   As barmy as Sam Ryder has now gone, as shown in this video. I'd still rather it than that bland Olly Alexander record.
    • I like Scott, and I listen to Rylan's show every week... they do sound great together on Eurovision etc but.. as for a daily show together, I don't think it would work. Rylan would probably have to reign it in a bit which would lose his appeal, otherwise it may become too chaotic, in my opinion. That Saturday slot is perfect for Rylan, his rapport with Sally Traffic and Lottie is great. I suppose it comes down to cost as well and if he would want a daily show?   Radio 2 are clearly happy with Scott's show, and considering he's just won Best Entertainment Show at the ARIA's, I can't see them changing much.
    • A win for Scott which is fantastic after the last few years he's been through!
    • Am I outnumbered for not wanting to work in radio? It feels like there's a lot of geeks that want a job in the industry here.
    • Thought Sam and Danni were robbed of an award.
    • OJ Borg is in for Trevor Nelson on the Rhythm Nation tonight (with Phill Williams on overnight). He's also in for Michael Ball for the next two Sundays (12th and 19th May). Ros Atkins (BBC's Analysis editior) is in for Jeremy Vine on Thursday. Another new name to Radio 2 is Oliver Hides from BBC Radio Wales. He sat in for Owain Wynn Evans yesterday and he's in again this Thursday (9th May) and Bank Holiday Monday (27th) Spoony in for Scott Mills from Tuesday 28th till Friday 31st May.
    • Thought they would make it easier to get to this event. There's been no communication from the council or organisers about travel, even though there's talk of train strikes. Smaller councils have done a better job.
    • They do sound good together, but I'm not sure Rylan will want the extra commitments.
    • I have accepted Chris is unlikely to join Scott's show, and that Chappers has moved on, but I still think he could do with a co-host. The most logical solution, I think, is Rylan. He appears more often on his show than not, and they are great together. Radio 2 could lose Rylan's Saturday show and extend his reach by appearing during the week. I think they'd be great!
    • Tattoo took a while to grow on me. I couldn't see the fuss until weeks after. We have a split household here where the war on Gaza is overshadowing an enjoyment. I'm hoping for a protest of some sort.
    • I've heard that the staging is very impressive.  That and him being "known" might prevent an embarrassing result.  I'm a terrible judge of Eurovision though as Tattoo is still so very meh to me.
    • Feels like after the success of Sam Ryder we are going back to our old ways. Olly Alexander's song is pretty weak. Anyone fancy our chances this year?
    • The more time goes on the more you think if they'd actually put some thought into it it should've been Vick & Katie from the start. A proven pairing and Katie ended up on the show anyway - whereas Katie's even mentioned she was only asked to join after the Jamie announcement And even by Going Home standards on time off, it's quite funny that a few months in we still haven't had a full week of the supposed line-up - and that's with a 4-day week.
