A joke I might have only just got (it's only 11 years late), and would like some clarification on (probably one for DC, if he's still knocking about this site these days)

When Mark and Lard used to call their show "the biggest show", was it in parody of Steve Wright calling his show "the big show", who was (and still is) on at the same time as them?

I think this is the gag, but I've only just got it. Or maybe there was no gag at all, and they genuinely did call it "the biggest show" because it was the biggest show. Clarification please.
