Right.... here's my take on events.... If I had to do a topic, it would be entitled, "A Nightmare On Fruit Street".

The time of entrance to the venue had been changed from 6 pm to 7 pm. And, right here, is where some problems began. The crowd had to stand for such a long time, and several people around me had commented on it. Luckily, it was a sunny evening.

The tour bus pulled up at 10 to 7. Aled randomly showed up in the car-park, looking like an advert for Bold Automatic Washing Powder, with a remarkably bright, white top.

Somone in the queue gave him an orange balloon, which he said looked like "a willy". My picture of him will shortly be in my profile. Aled had a hurried "vibe" off him. Also found him to be a little remote and detached.

Eventually, we got in to a building called the City Halls, which I found rather devoid of atmosphere. There were no seats, and I randomly decided to sit on the floor!! This didn't actually concern me incidentally. R1 had pretty coloured lights going round and round. If you looked closely enough, btw, some of the lights kind of looked like melons - a kind of fruit connection really.

The crowd had little time to bond and chat, before the music off the R1 playlist was launched upon us. Aled was jumping up and down, shouting "C'mon Glasgow", but people weren't responding particularly well.

Moyles was late on stage, appearing at 8:05 pm... He did far too much talking, IMO. I just wanted to get on with hearing songs. I found I did not like Chris in reality, finding him harsh and brittle.

Aled sang next.

Dom appeared on stage, and he was the one I liked best: he looked like such a lost soul, but performed very well. Well done!!! :-)

I'm afraid I actually left the venue at 9 pm. I was very grateful to have received tickets, but would say the evening lacked energy and spirit. An evening with no soul.

Marks out of 10 = 3 :-/

Incidentally, there was a moyles.net in the queue smack in front of me (the irony!!) - surprisingly a very nice person - a newbie - who gave me some Red Bull - thank you!!!

Viv must be spending her day in a cell.

Incidentally, I think I would have been happier in a cell.

It's odd you should say that, because we were actually almost arrested before the venue - we were in a Spanish tapas bar, and were chatting so hard, we got up and walked off without paying the bill (oops).... the waiter had to chase us across the floor, shouting at us!!

O, and there was a wasp/bee attracted to my perfume, so I had to keep jumping in and out of the queue!!

Yes, I had realised that!!! :-)

BTW, he can run very fast, and managed to cross the car-park in approx 5 seconds flat.

Pictures are now in my profile album.. album is entitled, "A Nightmare On Fruit Street" :-) There's a pic of Aled.

I applied but wasn't lucky enough to get tickets.

Believe me, that was lucky!! :)

I'm sure too, judging by comments on here, and on moyles.net, and aled.info, people have enjoyed it!! And that's a good thing!! :-)

Unfortunately, when I review stuff, I'll just tell it like I see/saw it!! I appreciate the travelling gang members have done around the country, how tired they must have felt, etc., etc. But for people who work in the entertainment industry, I found the evening to be remarkably unentertaining!! Also, a young fair-haired lad beside me had shouted in my ear that he was "losing the will to live".

My entertainment came from staring up at the ceiling looking at the coloured lights. This was the highlight. ;-)

I'm not prepared to give something a sugar-coating, just because others think I should.

Yeh, I guess I would have liked some Madonna - why not. :-)

I enjoyed the rest of my day out!! This was just the low point of it, that's all!!!

Incidentally, my review is actually quite polite ....I waited an extra day before posting.... there's a lot I haven't said - I'll leave the unsaid to speak 1,000 words though!!

Just because you didn't enjoy it Viv. Ima sure that there's a lot of people who did.

I did enjoy Dom.... Oh, and the ceiling.

Believe me, considering the length of time waiting outside, I was v. grateful for the floor!!

I purposely stood near the back as well, so I could make a sharp exit from the building!! Forgot to say that!! :-) Didn't see Matt Fincham, or Comedy Dave, or Rachel.

It would have been good actually, if all team members had stepped out on stage at the start, said hello, then sang all their songs seperately. Waiting on each, individual member was quite irritating and drawn out.

The effort by R1 in organising / travelling / performing, etc. is so appreciated, but, if I had to go to something again, it would be a different kind of venue, that's all. :-)

    • Since Easter at the beginning of April, Vick, Katie and Jamie have been on together just 4 times. Which is crazy for a brand new, high profile Radio 1 show. Imagine Jordan being off that regularly on Capital because of ‘other commitments’ - would never happen.  Jamie has only presented 6 times in the past month. Katie has presented every single show. Given how she got the job at the last minute I think very likely she would have had other commitments, which she will have cancelled/rearranged, cos being Radio 1 drive time host is a massive gig.   Vick, Katie and Jamie - 4 times; Vick and Katie - 10 times; Katie and Jamie - 2 times; Katie and Lauren - 2 times.
    • I see Katie (and Mairead) were out with Jordan tonight.  I don’t listen to the show any longer, I am shocked they are allowed to mention Jordan.
    • At least I do not ask stupid questions…😂
    • I suggest you follow the other DJs too if so, you will learn the hardest working will go further 🤣
    • A simple check on his instagram would answer all your questions , he’s on tour with his wife and the team behind his podcast. I suggest anyone to follow the radio presenters, you will learn a lot about their other jobs and work commitments.
    • Where is Jamie? It felt like he was settling in when Vick wasn’t on but he’s not been on since last Tuesday now. They’ve not even mentioned him, in fact they’ve mentioned Jordan more than they’ve mentioned him in the last two days.
    • Scott's show is on the road next week, live from Malmö in Sweden on Wednesday and Friday, ahead of Eurovision. As he's doing the semi final coverage on the TV on Tuesday and Thursday alongside Rylan, Gary Davies sits in for him on those days.
    • I don't feel there's so much overlap between M&M and Scott's shows. M&M is of a similar calibre to Scott & Chris on R1, with genuine laugh out loud moments and usually a show packed full of real interesting content. Scott's R2 show is IMO a shadow of the stuff he did on R1 (not his fault, he's doing exactly what station management want), with music and content to appeal to a much older audience.
    • To be fair, Scott & Chris would've still been fine on Radio 1. It was mentioned at the time that Scott's move was very much on Radio 2's part rather than Radio 1 wanting to move them on. That's the one problem that Radio 2 has, trying to appeal to such a wide demographic.. it's the perfect listen for many, but equally a turn off for many others. I think they have the balance fairly right.
    • I agree Scott has always been a good standalone presenter, but always better when with someone. When chappers left the radio one show it felt a different show and Chris joining was what it needed and brought new life. for the format of the radio 2 show Scott’s show fits well with the station but again, there’s the huge gap between radio1 and 2 As been said already old radio2 listeners feel it now feels too young with latest changes, yet old radio1 listeners still feel radio 2 feels too old. The inbetween stage demographic of too old for radio 1 but too young for radio 2 is still not catered for radio 2 was left to grow old with its audience for too long and to change things up now feels to try and change a brand image the right thing to do is leave it as it is and cater for that 1.5 demographic which I’m sure the new proposed 00s and 10s station will do if approved. Problem is it’s so overdue that by the time it gets off the ground these listeners are already likely to be lost and the changing image of radio2 likely to lose what it stands for as a brand with the “it’s too young now “  moving to boom and the “ it still sounds old “ crowd not able to move with their favourite presenters like Scott so finding themself on capital a radio 1.5 would have been perfect for Scott and Chris, seems unlikely but this is why I think who branding of bbc radio needs a rethink if these new stations get off ground
    • Bank Holiday Monday Schedule 6am-10am: Arielle Free in for Greg 10am-2pm: Dean & Vicky (No Rickie, Melvin & Charlie) 2pm-6pm: Vick & Jamie (No Katie) 6pm onwards: As normal.
    • Dare I say they've sounded great this past week?  Very much gelling.  Maybe less pressure?  Seem to be having a genuinely good time and not forcing things.
    • I'm in the minority in my workplace, most of them love country music.  Me, the American, does not care for it.  That said, I haven't haaaaaated some of the country adjacent stuff that's been on the R1 playlist.
    • The Eurovision semi finals are on from 8 to 10pm on Tuesday 7th and Thursday 9th May with Richie Anderson. That means Sara Cox in on till 8 on those days.  Saturday 11th May is Eurovision 'Super Saturday... 1-3pm Your Ultimate Abba song with Gary Davies  3-6pm Michelle Visage's Eurovision All Stars 6-8pm Eurovision Request Party with Owain Wynn Evans 8pm Eurovision Grand Final with Scott Mills and Rylan Clark
