Andy how is that a normal cover list?

Because its still the same people that would normally cover or will cover in the future, just in a different order.

Feel a bit sorry for Greg actually, Fearne is totally overshadowing him in the press above the schedule changes. Its all 'and in other news, Greg....'

I think the DJ's would have found out earlyer so I dont think they would have today off to take in the news.

I was thinking more the text reaction. I think it would have been difficult for Jo judging by Twitter.

I'm pleased with the new schedule and I could easily listen to Radio 1 from 6:30am to 7pm! I'm especially pleased with Greg moving to afternoons as this means I'll actually be able to have a listen when the show is live. Good stuff.

I'm surprised its not been noticed yet but if the night time schedule stays the same: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays (depending on introducing and INDWT), there will only be 1 female on the what 11 shows? and on Tuesdays its 2 with the addition of Mary Anne Hobbs.

The fairness and equality, sex discrimination and most importantly the audience representation brigades will be up in arms.

I'm sure they will but I just hope the BBC has the balls and stands up to it.

Quite alot of mixed opinion. I can't really say I'm surprised, and I don't think others should say they are. We have seen this coming for a while! OK, so maybe we didn't expect some of the changes, like Edith's move, but still we did expect change!

I am happy for Greg, I do enjoy his show! And it can only get better with a larger audience!

I did expect however some new names coming in, so I am a bit surprised that they haven't invested in new talent.

Mixed feelings about the change. Would have liked to have seen Sara take Jo's weekday morning slot. Does this mean that Sara will just continue to pre-record her Sunday show and cover for others when necessary? I can't pretend I'm excited by the prospect of Fearne Cotton every weekday.

Will be interested to hear Greg during the day in a permanent slot. I don't very often hear his early morning show and I always feel it's a bit routine and uncomfortable when he's covering for Scott and the show isn't really his own.

Well done to Dev for getting early breakfast - seems very easy going to listen to, though it seems bizarre to give him a new show then move him on again within months though.

As others have mentioned, I don't know what sort of format Jo's new weekend show will take - the timeslot doesn't really seem suited to the sort of new music focus her weekday show has.

Also disappointed Nihal won't be on daytimes anymore. I know some don't like him but I think he's a natural presenter and talker - very affable.

    • https://youtu.be/A_Cycjg5_9A?si=NiLTFeiTNWBExFoR   As barmy as Sam Ryder has now gone, as shown in this video. I'd still rather it than that bland Olly Alexander record.
    • I like Scott, and I listen to Rylan's show every week... they do sound great together on Eurovision etc but.. as for a daily show together, I don't think it would work. Rylan would probably have to reign it in a bit which would lose his appeal, otherwise it may become too chaotic, in my opinion. That Saturday slot is perfect for Rylan, his rapport with Sally Traffic and Lottie is great. I suppose it comes down to cost as well and if he would want a daily show?   Radio 2 are clearly happy with Scott's show, and considering he's just won Best Entertainment Show at the ARIA's, I can't see them changing much.
    • A win for Scott which is fantastic after the last few years he's been through!
    • Am I outnumbered for not wanting to work in radio? It feels like there's a lot of geeks that want a job in the industry here.
    • Thought Sam and Danni were robbed of an award.
    • OJ Borg is in for Trevor Nelson on the Rhythm Nation tonight (with Phill Williams on overnight). He's also in for Michael Ball for the next two Sundays (12th and 19th May). Ros Atkins (BBC's Analysis editior) is in for Jeremy Vine on Thursday. Another new name to Radio 2 is Oliver Hides from BBC Radio Wales. He sat in for Owain Wynn Evans yesterday and he's in again this Thursday (9th May) and Bank Holiday Monday (27th) Spoony in for Scott Mills from Tuesday 28th till Friday 31st May.
    • Thought they would make it easier to get to this event. There's been no communication from the council or organisers about travel, even though there's talk of train strikes. Smaller councils have done a better job.
    • They do sound good together, but I'm not sure Rylan will want the extra commitments.
    • I have accepted Chris is unlikely to join Scott's show, and that Chappers has moved on, but I still think he could do with a co-host. The most logical solution, I think, is Rylan. He appears more often on his show than not, and they are great together. Radio 2 could lose Rylan's Saturday show and extend his reach by appearing during the week. I think they'd be great!
    • Tattoo took a while to grow on me. I couldn't see the fuss until weeks after. We have a split household here where the war on Gaza is overshadowing an enjoyment. I'm hoping for a protest of some sort.
    • I've heard that the staging is very impressive.  That and him being "known" might prevent an embarrassing result.  I'm a terrible judge of Eurovision though as Tattoo is still so very meh to me.
    • Feels like after the success of Sam Ryder we are going back to our old ways. Olly Alexander's song is pretty weak. Anyone fancy our chances this year?
    • The more time goes on the more you think if they'd actually put some thought into it it should've been Vick & Katie from the start. A proven pairing and Katie ended up on the show anyway - whereas Katie's even mentioned she was only asked to join after the Jamie announcement And even by Going Home standards on time off, it's quite funny that a few months in we still haven't had a full week of the supposed line-up - and that's with a 4-day week.
