oh i see, its ok when clarkson hits piers morgan for slagging off his wife (as you have all agreed), but as people seem to have something against Kelly when she does the same (the mirror woman wrote about her bf) she is in the wrong

No one said we condoned it? Take a look love...

Anyway, they're not quite the same as a girl who is trying to be a role model for teenagers.

Does E*F*4L have to make an argument out of the slightest post

It seems so. It's a bit tedious this 'Edith, Fearne and Kelly are great, everyone else should be sacked'.

I'm not saying getting rid of Kelly. I like her believe it or not.

But this forum is about giving constructive criticism. Unlike EF4L we're giving that. Her response for being glad Dick and Dom went was that they sounded like ten year olds... Pot, kettle, much?

im not making a argument out of anything, im mealy pointing out that you think its ok for clarkson v piers but not for kelly v zoe, i don't remember kelly saying she was a role model ?

also the women editor of the sun ran a campaign against wife beaters, & during that campaign she was arrested for beating up her husband, she was trying to be a roll model.

everyone has got drunk & done stupid things & being in the media eye all the time kelly probably just had a bad day & had one to many drinks like we all have & she just lashed out at zoe (we have only heard zoe's side of what happened though).

"But this forum is about giving constructive criticism"

kelly seems to get rather alot of constructive criticism ?

:)

Kelly may not have said she is role model. But I think the perception is that being on a teen zone on R1 and presenting a show all about advice for various situations could make her one of sort

(we have only heard zoe's side of what happened though).

Variations of it were in all the newspapers this week.

Kelly needs it at the moment. She went through a really good point up until the last month or so. But now I'm not so keen.

If you're being given a job at Radio 1 for being an agony aunt then you should adapt to that role.

You said yourself she sets an example for young people and was a big sister. If she's a big sister that implies what she does others will copy...

PS Just to remind you. No one condoned Clarkson punching Morgan. Check yourself. You'll see it was mentioned. The only thing said was they didn't like him. That's different.

That makes sense as Dick & Dom said there producer was Jim. Did she produce Vernon yesterday?

They're all changing. Little Chris off of here produced weekend breakfast this week but will produce Nihal's afternoon show from next week.

I think it just effects the weekend staff though.

I'm listening to the Surgery tonight, and despite myself I'm finding it quite good. I don't think Kelly's doing a very good job (and her use of the English language is creative to say the least), but everyone else is holding the show together and making it actually worthwhile.

If they won't move Kelly aside, then maybe the answer is bringing Aled in full time as well to make it a joint effort (and for him to make some sense of it all!).

    • Since Easter at the beginning of April, Vick, Katie and Jamie have been on together just 4 times. Which is crazy for a brand new, high profile Radio 1 show. Imagine Jordan being off that regularly on Capital because of ‘other commitments’ - would never happen.  Jamie has only presented 6 times in the past month. Katie has presented every single show. Given how she got the job at the last minute I think very likely she would have had other commitments, which she will have cancelled/rearranged, cos being Radio 1 drive time host is a massive gig.   Vick, Katie and Jamie - 4 times; Vick and Katie - 10 times; Katie and Jamie - 2 times; Katie and Lauren - 2 times.
    • I see Katie (and Mairead) were out with Jordan tonight.  I don’t listen to the show any longer, I am shocked they are allowed to mention Jordan.
    • At least I do not ask stupid questions…😂
    • I suggest you follow the other DJs too if so, you will learn the hardest working will go further 🤣
    • A simple check on his instagram would answer all your questions , he’s on tour with his wife and the team behind his podcast. I suggest anyone to follow the radio presenters, you will learn a lot about their other jobs and work commitments.
    • Where is Jamie? It felt like he was settling in when Vick wasn’t on but he’s not been on since last Tuesday now. They’ve not even mentioned him, in fact they’ve mentioned Jordan more than they’ve mentioned him in the last two days.
    • Scott's show is on the road next week, live from Malmö in Sweden on Wednesday and Friday, ahead of Eurovision. As he's doing the semi final coverage on the TV on Tuesday and Thursday alongside Rylan, Gary Davies sits in for him on those days.
    • I don't feel there's so much overlap between M&M and Scott's shows. M&M is of a similar calibre to Scott & Chris on R1, with genuine laugh out loud moments and usually a show packed full of real interesting content. Scott's R2 show is IMO a shadow of the stuff he did on R1 (not his fault, he's doing exactly what station management want), with music and content to appeal to a much older audience.
    • To be fair, Scott & Chris would've still been fine on Radio 1. It was mentioned at the time that Scott's move was very much on Radio 2's part rather than Radio 1 wanting to move them on. That's the one problem that Radio 2 has, trying to appeal to such a wide demographic.. it's the perfect listen for many, but equally a turn off for many others. I think they have the balance fairly right.
    • I agree Scott has always been a good standalone presenter, but always better when with someone. When chappers left the radio one show it felt a different show and Chris joining was what it needed and brought new life. for the format of the radio 2 show Scott’s show fits well with the station but again, there’s the huge gap between radio1 and 2 As been said already old radio2 listeners feel it now feels too young with latest changes, yet old radio1 listeners still feel radio 2 feels too old. The inbetween stage demographic of too old for radio 1 but too young for radio 2 is still not catered for radio 2 was left to grow old with its audience for too long and to change things up now feels to try and change a brand image the right thing to do is leave it as it is and cater for that 1.5 demographic which I’m sure the new proposed 00s and 10s station will do if approved. Problem is it’s so overdue that by the time it gets off the ground these listeners are already likely to be lost and the changing image of radio2 likely to lose what it stands for as a brand with the “it’s too young now “  moving to boom and the “ it still sounds old “ crowd not able to move with their favourite presenters like Scott so finding themself on capital a radio 1.5 would have been perfect for Scott and Chris, seems unlikely but this is why I think who branding of bbc radio needs a rethink if these new stations get off ground
    • Bank Holiday Monday Schedule 6am-10am: Arielle Free in for Greg 10am-2pm: Dean & Vicky (No Rickie, Melvin & Charlie) 2pm-6pm: Vick & Jamie (No Katie) 6pm onwards: As normal.
    • Dare I say they've sounded great this past week?  Very much gelling.  Maybe less pressure?  Seem to be having a genuinely good time and not forcing things.
    • I'm in the minority in my workplace, most of them love country music.  Me, the American, does not care for it.  That said, I haven't haaaaaated some of the country adjacent stuff that's been on the R1 playlist.
    • The Eurovision semi finals are on from 8 to 10pm on Tuesday 7th and Thursday 9th May with Richie Anderson. That means Sara Cox in on till 8 on those days.  Saturday 11th May is Eurovision 'Super Saturday... 1-3pm Your Ultimate Abba song with Gary Davies  3-6pm Michelle Visage's Eurovision All Stars 6-8pm Eurovision Request Party with Owain Wynn Evans 8pm Eurovision Grand Final with Scott Mills and Rylan Clark
