I guess this is a replacement for Radio 2 Live. Are they trying to go bigger with their event?

There are rumours it'll be in Leicestershire: https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/leicester-news/victoria-park-festival-really-great-8501680

I know that last year they did their event outside its usual one day festival concert in Hyde Park as previously thought. It does feel perplexing if they scaling up their live event as 6 Music scales theirs down. In interest of event sustainability whether eventually go for a rebrand of the festivals and launch it as a BBC Sounds Fest given the overlap of artists sometimes featured across stations like whether its Arlo Parks to Lewis Capaldi wonder if it will be a more cross-network vibe to events

Guessing after Kylie's appearance for Capital she will be on the bill?

Right about Kylie but wrong about their attempts to make this an event for younger audiences.

Forgot that the Leeds event last year was cancelled due to the Queen's death.

I found it was interesting that both of names Kylie Minogue and Adam Lambert not the obvious names you’d go for a young peoples event with Capital. But must say Kylie has seemed to have made one of the most impressive pop careers that she is still able to dominate the charts and be able to have her new songs played in clubs and not just asked to play her hits when she has a stack of them. To go from Ledgends slot at Glastonbury to the mystery surprise slot at capital’s ball is something.

It seems with radio stations are trying to have events that come a staple live interactive experience for their listeners to engage with the station with Capital, Hits, 6 Music, Radio 1, Radio 3, Kiss and now Radio 2 having events apart of the brand and is a means of gaining for commercial outlets different outlet of revenue as Capital Dance announced their first Ibiza weekender to rival Radio 1’s. I wonder if stations like Heart, Radio X, Absolute would look to do similar.

I am enjoying Radio 2 in the park coverage with Gary Davies. Not honna lie think i would wanna see the dj stage more than the acts

Enjoying all the DJs together again like Radio 1 Big Weekend. Jeremy Vine and DJ Spoony sounds interesting later! Also Hanson with Busted was an unexpected throwback!

Shame again it's not on the actual TV. Instead you can watch Rihanna in Hackney from 2012.

    • https://youtu.be/A_Cycjg5_9A?si=NiLTFeiTNWBExFoR   As barmy as Sam Ryder has now gone, as shown in this video. I'd still rather it than that bland Olly Alexander record.
    • I like Scott, and I listen to Rylan's show every week... they do sound great together on Eurovision etc but.. as for a daily show together, I don't think it would work. Rylan would probably have to reign it in a bit which would lose his appeal, otherwise it may become too chaotic, in my opinion. That Saturday slot is perfect for Rylan, his rapport with Sally Traffic and Lottie is great. I suppose it comes down to cost as well and if he would want a daily show?   Radio 2 are clearly happy with Scott's show, and considering he's just won Best Entertainment Show at the ARIA's, I can't see them changing much.
    • A win for Scott which is fantastic after the last few years he's been through!
    • Am I outnumbered for not wanting to work in radio? It feels like there's a lot of geeks that want a job in the industry here.
    • Thought Sam and Danni were robbed of an award.
    • OJ Borg is in for Trevor Nelson on the Rhythm Nation tonight (with Phill Williams on overnight). He's also in for Michael Ball for the next two Sundays (12th and 19th May). Ros Atkins (BBC's Analysis editior) is in for Jeremy Vine on Thursday. Another new name to Radio 2 is Oliver Hides from BBC Radio Wales. He sat in for Owain Wynn Evans yesterday and he's in again this Thursday (9th May) and Bank Holiday Monday (27th) Spoony in for Scott Mills from Tuesday 28th till Friday 31st May.
    • Thought they would make it easier to get to this event. There's been no communication from the council or organisers about travel, even though there's talk of train strikes. Smaller councils have done a better job.
    • They do sound good together, but I'm not sure Rylan will want the extra commitments.
    • I have accepted Chris is unlikely to join Scott's show, and that Chappers has moved on, but I still think he could do with a co-host. The most logical solution, I think, is Rylan. He appears more often on his show than not, and they are great together. Radio 2 could lose Rylan's Saturday show and extend his reach by appearing during the week. I think they'd be great!
    • Tattoo took a while to grow on me. I couldn't see the fuss until weeks after. We have a split household here where the war on Gaza is overshadowing an enjoyment. I'm hoping for a protest of some sort.
    • I've heard that the staging is very impressive.  That and him being "known" might prevent an embarrassing result.  I'm a terrible judge of Eurovision though as Tattoo is still so very meh to me.
    • Feels like after the success of Sam Ryder we are going back to our old ways. Olly Alexander's song is pretty weak. Anyone fancy our chances this year?
    • The more time goes on the more you think if they'd actually put some thought into it it should've been Vick & Katie from the start. A proven pairing and Katie ended up on the show anyway - whereas Katie's even mentioned she was only asked to join after the Jamie announcement And even by Going Home standards on time off, it's quite funny that a few months in we still haven't had a full week of the supposed line-up - and that's with a 4-day week.
