I hate that record. I really do. I think its awful. It might do well here, as a lot of crap records chart really high.

Nothing against David Hasselhoff. I remember loving Night Rider as a very young kid. When I was 10 I was obsessed with Baywatch and I thought he was really sexy. He holds a part of my youth.

But that song bites.

Thank you... that's what I've been desperately trying to tell everyone for the past 3 weeks.

So save the last dance

For me my love 'cause I

I see you as an angel freshly fallen from the sky...

William Hill have halved the price of David Hasselhoff having his first UK number 1 this weekend from 10/1 to 5/1 after the latest sales figures show that he has climbed to fourth in the mid week charts.

"A month ago I would have given you 1000/1 for David Hasselhoff having a UK number 1 and now we are 5/1. Please stop buying it as if he makes it we are going to lose a lot of money." said Hills spokesman Rupert Adams.

That really is sickening, Imagine if you put a few quid on him reaching number 1 at 1000/1 odds and it actually happening!

Now wouldn't that be attempted rigging by the betting companies?

It was about 6.45 as I was listening in my Shop which is a Betting Office for William hill, and as an unofficial spokesperson I can tell you that anyone who placed a bet at before Scott started the campaign would have got 1000/1 irrespective of what they changed the price to later on.

I'm a bookie, I know these things.

Sometimes here, sometimes not.

Yeah the price whenever you place the bet stands, surely? But if bookies start saying "dont buy it coz we'll lose loads of money" that's not on... surely thats the whole game of betting and being a bookie?

Bookies can say whatever they want, if people want to do as they suggest then that's up to them.

However If I were a smart bookmaker and wanted to make lots of money, then I'd presume the song wasn't gonna get to number 1, then give it a really low price to make it look like it's doing well and then do an interview saying stop buying it 'cos we'll have to pay loads out, thus encouraging other people to bet on it who wouldn't buy the song beause if the bookie is scared then it's probably going to happen when all along, the bookie knows it doesn't stand much chance of getting to no. 1

It's called something like reverse advertising or something I think.

EDIT - also 5/1 is not that good a price, I haven't seen the market, but I'll bet that if Razorlight are in it as well then it'll be odds on. so while 5/1 may seem like a good price compared to 1000/1 (from a bookies point of view) it's not that great.

Sometimes here, sometimes not.

Kinda like reverse psychology.

I live in Canada and I tried to download the Hoff Jump In My Car single from iTunes and it wouldn't let me. Whenever I tried to buy the song from the UK iTunes it just redirected me back the Canadian one which doesn't have the Hoff single. Blimey.

and I doubt the Canadian I-Tunes purchase would count toward the UK chart, even IF it was on there... Maybe it'll be released there sometime soon... oh well, thanks for trying anyways

    • https://youtu.be/A_Cycjg5_9A?si=NiLTFeiTNWBExFoR   As barmy as Sam Ryder has now gone, as shown in this video. I'd still rather it than that bland Olly Alexander record.
    • I like Scott, and I listen to Rylan's show every week... they do sound great together on Eurovision etc but.. as for a daily show together, I don't think it would work. Rylan would probably have to reign it in a bit which would lose his appeal, otherwise it may become too chaotic, in my opinion. That Saturday slot is perfect for Rylan, his rapport with Sally Traffic and Lottie is great. I suppose it comes down to cost as well and if he would want a daily show?   Radio 2 are clearly happy with Scott's show, and considering he's just won Best Entertainment Show at the ARIA's, I can't see them changing much.
    • A win for Scott which is fantastic after the last few years he's been through!
    • Am I outnumbered for not wanting to work in radio? It feels like there's a lot of geeks that want a job in the industry here.
    • Thought Sam and Danni were robbed of an award.
    • OJ Borg is in for Trevor Nelson on the Rhythm Nation tonight (with Phill Williams on overnight). He's also in for Michael Ball for the next two Sundays (12th and 19th May). Ros Atkins (BBC's Analysis editior) is in for Jeremy Vine on Thursday. Another new name to Radio 2 is Oliver Hides from BBC Radio Wales. He sat in for Owain Wynn Evans yesterday and he's in again this Thursday (9th May) and Bank Holiday Monday (27th) Spoony in for Scott Mills from Tuesday 28th till Friday 31st May.
    • Thought they would make it easier to get to this event. There's been no communication from the council or organisers about travel, even though there's talk of train strikes. Smaller councils have done a better job.
    • They do sound good together, but I'm not sure Rylan will want the extra commitments.
    • I have accepted Chris is unlikely to join Scott's show, and that Chappers has moved on, but I still think he could do with a co-host. The most logical solution, I think, is Rylan. He appears more often on his show than not, and they are great together. Radio 2 could lose Rylan's Saturday show and extend his reach by appearing during the week. I think they'd be great!
    • Tattoo took a while to grow on me. I couldn't see the fuss until weeks after. We have a split household here where the war on Gaza is overshadowing an enjoyment. I'm hoping for a protest of some sort.
    • I've heard that the staging is very impressive.  That and him being "known" might prevent an embarrassing result.  I'm a terrible judge of Eurovision though as Tattoo is still so very meh to me.
    • Feels like after the success of Sam Ryder we are going back to our old ways. Olly Alexander's song is pretty weak. Anyone fancy our chances this year?
    • The more time goes on the more you think if they'd actually put some thought into it it should've been Vick & Katie from the start. A proven pairing and Katie ended up on the show anyway - whereas Katie's even mentioned she was only asked to join after the Jamie announcement And even by Going Home standards on time off, it's quite funny that a few months in we still haven't had a full week of the supposed line-up - and that's with a 4-day week.
