A campaign to get Ding-Dong! The Witch is Dead to #1 after the death of Margaret Thatcher has caused havoc for the Official Chart team.

Ben Cooper released a statement about it earlier today saying it won't be played in full and will be presented like Newsbeat

Good on R1 - it really is a horrible and tasteless form of protest. If people really wanted a proper protest song, why not pick a rock/punk song from the 80s that was a directly influenced by Thatcher? As Ben Cooper says, this is essentially celebrating the death of someone who hasn't even been buried yet.

I saw that the Big Top 40 Show just did not play it or talk about, but that what you can do with a "fixed" chart for Capital and Heart....

(I say it is fixed becuase as far as I know it take in download and radio play on the networks so they can make sure only songs from station playlist get on the chart.)
