Interesting, I've missed the figures about Scott, but it sounds like he's more than compensating for those listeners who have jumped ship. If anything he must have more of an audience now than at Radio 1?
I don't think the BBC will need to give much spin to the overall figures - both stations are clinging on to listeners at a time of changing listener habits - including the death of the Queen and the World Cup.

Always think there should be fewer ticket press allocation for newspapers that break the embargos (or spoil announcements!).

Agree. The right voice for those big days when the monarch dies etc.

I think you've hit the nail on the head - Scott on his own was always a very different feel to Scott and Chris or with Chappers, Laura or Beccy. He's not a million miles away from how he sounds as a solo presenter on Radio 1, we're just so used to him having more voices on the airwaves with him.
I think it's not too dissimilar to Dean and Vicky on Radio 1. People are saying they've not made an impact, but they seem to be treading a careful line of trying to make a programme their own, but not trying to push all the existing audience away.

Tricky one, I'm on the fence here.  The structure I feel that is missing, is what the R1 show was based on - Scott and Chris having a chat about either something going on in their personal lives, or a current trend or something in the news, and naturally the listeners would join in and the show/features would grow from there.   I do think there has been more of that as the weeks have gone by, but I think it will take time to grow, especially since there is no 'wing man' to bounce off.
In the run up to Christmas, I think it was warming up and sounding more like Scott, he was sounding more at home, and I think that will continue to grow now as he gets used to his new station and audience. I can't help but feel like Radio 2 is a 'safe' place which doesn't seem to go rogue as much as Radio 1, and to me it just seems like he is playing it safe until he really finds his feet.  I think he rightfully is being careful about what 'in-jokes' and features he brings over from R1, because they have to develop naturally with all the listeners, he can't just broadcast as if his R1 listeners have all followed him over and who everything for example. I think it just needs time for it to become the thing we want it to be (as Scott fans).

I don't mind whether it's old or new music, I'd just love to hear more during the day. There's some great stuff in the evening that doesn't make it to the daytime because the playlist feels small.

I am not sure if people have looked at some of the general comments on Radio 1's social channels.
It is clear that Radio 1 has a bit of a problem with an ageing audience again.  A lot of people well outside Radio 1's demographics saying they don't like anybody now Scott has finished - apart from possibly Greg or Jordan.
There is also a common theme of posts "I'd long grown out of love with the music but tuned in for Scott and Chris".
So for the sake of station evolution maybe Dean and Vicky are meant to really not meant to be to everybody's taste.
The big issue is what is the future of youth music radio stations?

Hello! I'm from Indiana, in the US. Got into the show in I think 2011, when it was on Sirius XM and I had a free trial because I'd bought a new car. I heard it one day randomly whilst surfing through channels, and fell in love. Had to listen every day after that, even after my free 3 month trial ended. The rest is beautiful history. ♡

A big thank you to everyone who signed the cards. We got a big cheer when Aled handed them over, Scott quipped they couldn't have done the 'best of' stuff without the site!

Sending a sad farewell to you Scott on Radio 1. I've caught a few moments of the final week. How wonderful it was to hear Chappers yesterday. It really brought back memories of the days when Timsk and I lived on UM. So I want to thank you Scott for being your lovely self and UM and all its regulars for bringing us together - still together after 15 years! I notice not much is being said on air about the mass exodus of all your fans who plan to follow you to Radio 2, but I'm definitely one of these. I'm really looking forward to your new show - and finally accepting my age demographic! All the very best.

The cut-off for the cards is now here, but we'll be making this thread public later this week, and will make sure Scott and Chris see all the messages! We filled the two insides of the card, the back, and an insert, so thanks everyone

I spent my teenage years in the 2000s, on a forum dedicated to you, your show and everything Radio 1 - basically getting the sh** ripped out of me for all sorts. Wouldn’t change it for the world
Radio 1 won’t be Radio 1 without you. You’ll be sorely missed. Love you bye x

    Hello all,
We're going to be producing some cards for Scott and Chris on their last week. If you'd like to be a part of this please drop us a message below and I'll see if I can fit them all in!
Please note, some messages will have to be edited for space, but we'll point Scott and Chris in the direction of this forum thread to see it all of them in full!
    Thanks

I mean nobody expects the Scott Mills fansite to be delighted with whoever replaces Scott and Chris. But I think it's clear water between Radio 1 and Radio 2 - which is perhaps what bosses will want.

More the future than the present at times!
I suppose we all remember thinking the future would be uncertain without Laura and Chappers and everyone involved came out on top. Scott got new team members, Laura became a radio boss and Chappers did more TV.
Why did Radio 1 make everyone think they'd died though ?

I did get up stupidly early on the morning of her final early breakfast show to record it. Which is above. I'm sure the late Vicky Marsden used to cover that same time slot or near enough, a few years before. And Clive Warren before her.

I wonder what spurred the announcement six months before the changes? Feels a while to wake before they take impact.
I'd have enjoyed the Sunday night mix of chill and indie in the summer months, but looking forward to staying tuned in for longer on a weekend. No disrepect to the Rock Show but it was a difficult mix on a Sunday night!
It's also interesting to see indie and rock seems to be back in fashion, it felt like there was a move away from it in the 2010s.
