Mills: "Leave My House Alone" !!

According to yesterday's Scottish Daily Record, Scott has apparently taken the huff that fans appear to be more interested in his flat decor than his recent homage to Susan Boyle, by placing her image at the top of his Xmas tree.

He says: "Some people are commenting that I need some coving on my ceiling, rather than commenting on the Susan Boyle character!"

He also says his flatmate pretty much assembled his Xmas tree, because he is "too big and clumsy", and kept stepping on bulbs and smashing them all!!

:hahaha:

I've actually got the most horrible sensation that this is a newspaper story taken out of context!! I just read through the Subo angel topic properly, and the comment about the coving appears to have come from John!! So you just made national Scottish newspapers, John!!

Just goes to show you never know who is reading these Boards!!

SHE HAS been dubbed the Hairy Angel and now Susan Boyle has taken up residence as the Christmas angel on top of a radio DJ’s tree.

Scott Mills revealed SuBo as his tree-topper on his show on Radio 1 earlier this week.

And pictures of the decorations have been posted on the Unofficial Mills website – prompting comment from the DJ’s fans.

But rather than talking about the homage to the Britain’s Got Talent singer, they are commenting on Mills’ flat.

He said: “Some people are commenting that I need some coving on my ceiling rather than on the Susan Boyle character.

“Thanks for one comment on my flat and not my Susan Boyle angel on top of my tree.”

Clearly the DJ was proud of his choice of angel, even though he wasn’t able to decorate the tree himself.

With just two weeks until Christmas, Mills watched as his flatmate decorated his tree – scared he was going to break the decorations.

He said on Tuesday’s show: “I tried to do the lights but because I’m big and clumsy I kept standing on all the bulbs and smashing them.”

SuBo is set to have a festive Christmas season as her album sits at number one in the album charts, and looks like it might hold on to be the Christmas number one album.

She performed on French television earlier this week, and has been going down a storm in the US, where I Dreamed a Dream is on track to be the biggest selling US album of the year.

Viv: that's the bloody line I missed - the prompting comments from the DJs fans!!

The Record said SCOTT himself posted the Subo Link, but he didn't!! It was Jono!!

That line, when I went back to check, wasn't in the story in the paper I had ... so basically, it's been a slow news day, John's come up with a suitable line, a quote from Scott gets booted in, and it goes out there.

Actually, I don't believe Scott would have gone into a huff either.

Blooming papers. :hahaha:

O, and I made up the line "Leave My House Alone", so this makes me a making-up-lines monster too.

This is the site that has anything worthwhile to print on Scott or SuBo....SuBo has become quite the hit here in the States....mostly for 1 song..."I Dream a Dream"...I like the song but not sure where all the rest of the popularity comes from.....could it be good marketing?......Scott doesnt' appear to be large....he appears to be of average stature...now clumsy...that may be the real story here.......

Viv...you're absolutely right about Americans affinity for rags to riches stories...not sure where it comes from...but I do like seeing someone making it. I'm sure Brits have a theory....hear it every once and awhile in the joke streams at BBC....Now Viv...SuBo needs more than "some" foundation on her face!!!!....Scott could have picked a better profile of SuBo...it is the Christmas season and generosity is one of it's attributes...:)

    • I must have missed that yesterday, sorry! Scott did make the same tongue in cheek comment on today's show about Rylan. It's a shame Rylan isn't the go to cover for Scott, I assume his commitments away from R2 prevent that. I enjoyed his last cover stint. Spoony is the go to stand in for the mid afternoon slot (he's covering again week after next while Scott's off getting married).   In that case, I think you're right!
    • Not that last minute. Scott was talking about it on his own show yesterday, saying he and Rylan have a deal where they cover each other's shows but Rylan only covers Scott when he can be bothered!
    • Sorry I should have been clearer, I meant daytime weekday. Weekend shows would count as a 'step up' from overnights for OJ.
    • If we're counting the overnight slot, OJ Borg regularly covers weekend shows.
    • The only weekday R2 DJ who would ever cover a weekend slot?!
    • What I assume is a very last minute change... Scott Mills is in for Rylan today.
    • Radio 1 at Parklife will be presented by Vicky and Nat. Nat is currently listed to present her usual Sunday show on that weekend but I imagine that will change and someone else will be doing it instead. The Radio 1 presenters at Download will be Daniel P Carter, Jack Saunders, Alyx Holcombe and Nels Hylton.
    • Nat in for Dean with Vicky as well that day.
    • So the end of weekend afternoons this week - new show is July 1st.
    • Arielle is in for Greg on Monday 27th May.
    • He’s definitely gotten better and the show has sounded fine this week. I think it been at its best when it’s been Katie and Jamie or Vick and Katie. Vick and Jamie are ok together, but I do think the show sounds better when it’s Vick and Katie and therefore I still don’t really understand the point of the trio.    Jamie is, however, a lot better than Danny Beard!
    • The RAJAR coming on later this year reflecting later summer to autumn will be interesting to how it reflects Matt and Mollie in afternoons to the revised changes on radio 1’s new music slots and the schedule re-shuffling Radio 3 introducing a new slate of programmes. Then, later on this year have speech radio stations having domestic political coverage of the election but also America’s presidential election.
    • I actually caught snippets of today’s show, and I found it much better than the last time I listened. I have made it no secret that I like Jamie on the radio, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Matt & him together last year. People have criticised him for not being relatable, but I have to agree with the comment above that I have always found him a naturally warm person to listen to. Maybe the going home set up was something that needed settling in and things are starting to take shape.  It must have been difficult for him joining an established duo in Vick & Katie to begin with.  Jamie was great on something songs today, fully engaged in the caller and sounded like a real presenter. Maybe he is doing as a lot of us hoped and really learning as he goes, how to do it properly.
    • Agree with this. The anti-Jamie feeling was IMO quite influenced by the negativity around him replacing Jordan, since Jordan was exceptional and also universally loved. When people mention Danny and Jamie in the same sentence about bad hiring decisions I almost choke - Jamie may not be perfect but he's several leagues better than Danny already and has bags of potential. Danny is poor and has shown zero potential...
    • Jamie started 4 March, and the figures only going up to 31 March, so it isn't reliable. But it has shown the numbers have dropped in afternoons compared to last quarter. It looks like it's Capital's gain.
