Didn't crash my computer but loads of pop ups and flash animation aaaahhhhh!

Chappers and Dave. Good on em but have a problem taking them too seriously since they were booed off stage in Portsmouth for being so sh*t. ha ha

Dave is the man tho, and why does Chappers hate everybody?

Yeah i know but they had to send him home from the One Night With Laura tour for being so out of order to everyone he nearly got kicked in. No need no need.

That didn't really happen did it? I thought it was just part of the gag....

Surely if there had been a genuine problem, with a BBC employee behaving in a way likely to get himself in that kind of situation, the BBC would have kept quiet about it pending any possible embarrasing developments - as it was, they made a big thing of it, which makes me believe it was all part of the script. Scott Mills relies very heavily on those. And it works, his show is damn funny.

I didnt hear Scott mention it on his show I heard it on Moyles when he phoned Scott up one morning and woke him up and he was saying about it then. I know Scott relies on the scripted thing but still. Anyway think the show, Scott and Laura are wicked but that Chapman just eminates dislikeability. (is that a word??? It is now)

I do know what you mean about Chappers, but I still think its a deliberate characterization - you've got your pleasant, funny, sweet, slightly bumbling gay lead, you're got the bubbly air-head (which I'm sure she is absolutely not) blonde pretty girl, and you've got the oafish chauvinist pig type. All three are characters.

Why do people have such a passion of hating radio presenters? And yet even when they hate them they still listen. It's beyond me. Even more confusing is that Chappers, Laura and Scott are what the site is about and yet still people register despite not liking them. Chappers is practically the Scott Mills show as much as Scott is.

I don't hate them, I love them......and also, in case anyone misunderstands, I'm not saying that there is nothing of the real people in the "characters" as I presented it, of couse it is presumably basically them, their personalities (except I suspect Laura is a lot smarter than they present her) - just exaggerated, like a caricature. I have always liked Chappers, from when he used to be on breakfast.

No-one said anything about hating anyone. And they listen because the 'actual' presenter has talent and makes an amusing enjoyable show and because of this they join a fan site to communicate with other listeners to discuss ALL aspects of the show good AND bad. Surely thats what these fan sites are really about isn't it?

As with anything there are the odd bits and pieces that wind people up but in essence the whole thing is great. Its like i listen to Moyles every morning and it cracks me up, blo*dy hilarious and love the show to bits even bought the book, but i dont like Rachel the producer, doesn't mean i hate the show does it.

Yeah you're right Mary. Laura's just as funny in real life but she does things to provoke reactions on the show. It wouldn't be a radio show if they didn't do that. Just like Moyles, as he reveals a lot of it is an act. Laura gets a lot of love when people meet her off-air, I think they expect her to be just like she is on the radio!

No, I take your point Sir Talbot. But in essence, where as Rachel may wind you up on the Chris Moyles show, it's not the same as finding Chappers annoying. Rachel isn't on-air as much, whereas Chappers appears in every link.

Without sounding like a lick, I like Chappers. Naturally I am going to as I like the show a lot. But I don't agree with much of what he says, but I like how he provides the balance, and disagrees with Scott. The show is quite boring when they both agree with each other.

Absolutely. There are people here though who take any criticism of The Show and The People very personally though. Sometimes it can resemble a temple rather than a fan site.

Sure, we focus more on the positives than the negatives. But why would we want to moan about a show we like so much? I spend enough time listening to the show each day as it is, than to have the time to moan about it! Of course I encourage people to bring their views to the site, but some moans sound more like a broken record than something worthy of discussing.

You guys seem to take it just as personally though. We smile at the idea of Chappers being kicked off One Night With Laura, as it's a joke, and leave it at that. We don't look at it in such depth as you two just have.

Jono, you are missing my point my old pal. I made a comment about why is Chapman the way he is, an example being the one night with laura episode. MaryMary replied to it (as is usual on forums). Then you say why do people register when they hate the presenters. I said i dont but surely the forum is to discuss good and bad. MaryMary agreed. Full stop. It wasn't that in depth to me, especially when there are threads on here with tons of pages to them, thats more in depth i reckon. This thread has 2 pages, hardly War and Peace.

I think if you read the posts again you will see that they make sense.

    • Tara Kumar is in for Alyx on Sunday 13th July.
    • Conor Knight & Lauren Layfield are in for Matt & Mollie on Monday 14th July.  Matt is solo on Tuesday 15th July.  Jerry is in for Mollie between Wednesday 16th & Thursday 24th July.  Maia Beth is covering Future Pop on Wednesday 16th & Wednesday 23rd July. On Sunday 27th July the Chillest Show is reduced to an hour, and 20.00-21.00 is a BBC Proms special with JADE. On Thursday 31st July 18.00-20.00 in place of Jack's show it's the Dance Party Warm-Up with Danny Howard (ahead of the Ibiza weekend).
    • Dean McCullough in for Greg w/c 4th August. James Cusack on EB.
    • Well looks like Mollie is off all month now so presumably a personal matter.
    • Intrigued why Matt & Mollie aren't presenting breakfast on Monday, with James in for them instead (which has happened before).. or even James given a chance to present the breakfast show?
    • Sam & Danni seem to be down for Breakfast on Monday. James Cusack on Going Home. That’s another new name in the list of “people who have hosted Going Home in 2025”.
    • Wednesday, surely? But this is another mess, as this weeks Summer press release said it’ll be Sam & Danni no Jamie from the 28th - so it’s actually a whole week earlier!
    • Jamie Laing’s last show before his summer break will be on Wednesday 16th July.
    • I worked out once Scott spent 3 months of a year off his own slot in the Moyles days and more like 4 in Grimmys days, six weeks of his own holiday and projects, six covering Grimmy plus some ad hoc days
    • Back on topic, I think there's quite a few of the current Radio 1 presenters who would be able to adapt to Radio 2's style in the future. It's more of question of how many of them will actually end up there. With much of R2's line up changed over the past couple of years, it's quite possible we won't see much movement there, and R2 management might even decide to look elsewhere to bring in new presenters in future.
    • With OJ covering on bank holidays. She is the best person for the job however... they're going to end up with a situation like Scott covering R1 breakfast back in the day, where she spends quite a bit of time off her own slot covering Breakfast, plus her own holiday and other commitments. She's been filming for something recently which has meant she's been off several days a week since May. She was off last week, on breakfast this week, OJ is on Mon/Tues next week, then She's off the following two weeks.
    • Looking back at this I would say now that Sara is the main cover - I think she has been reestablished as it now
    • Purley on the R1 Dance station.. Someone on DS said don't expect to see any changes to the schedule on the new stations however if they are taking on Capital Dance with this, which they clearly are, which has live presenters 7am - 10pm except for the 11am mix then they'll surely have to have a proper scheduled set of shows. At the moment Arielle is the only "live" per say show and only "live" a few days a week with earlier shows being repeated Thursday Friday and Saturday. Connor and Charlie are clearly pre records but was this only for the time it was online only and they have already got a schedule ready to go on day 1? also of note is that Charlie is taking over a podcast as well as starting a new project with podcasting which makes me wonder if she is about to step back from Dance Anthems all together to concentrate on those and Connor takes over? So you could have Arielle doing 9-12 weekdays live then someone else 12-3 and Connor live 3-6 on R1D and doing Dance Anthems on a Saturday.
    • As none of the Going Home Team aren't currently on the air, that's a bit if an issue. Considering most of the Dance DJs will be out there, I'm surprised none of them are being utilised to host the 1-4 slot that weekend.
    • Going Home presenters have done the last few years ?
