Olly Murs and Dermot O'Leary are among the nine celebrities embarking upon a treacherous desert adventure in aid of Comic Relief today.

The X Factor favourites have signed up for the BT Red Nose Desert Trek, which will see them travel to Kenya and take on one of the world's most inhospitable deserts in order to raise money for the charity.

Joining them on their quest will be Strictly Come Dancing winner Kara Tointon, Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills and comedian Ronni Ancona.

ITV breakfast personality Lorraine Kelly, R&B star Craig David, presenter Nadia Sawalha and journalist Peter White complete the lineup.

Updates on the team's progress will air on Radio 1 throughout the week, while video logs from the group will be available on the station's website.

The annual Comic Relief telethon will air on March 18.

I doubt it. There are two things getting in the way of her being a decent dancer

So, a caffeine-fueled Mills has left for Kenya this morning.

Scott will not be able to tweet from Africa, because of poor mobile reception, but get the latest in news via @rednoseday

Wanna show your support? Text DESERT to 70011 - texts cost £1.00 plus the standard charge. The entire £1.00 goes towards comic relief, and helps people not just in Africa but in the UK. woo

www.rednoseday.com/change-lives/focus-on-sight - this year's focus is on SIGHT, but Red Nose Day helps so many people... in the UK, 1 in 5 people are now living in poverty

£10 could enable ten children to be checked for an eye condition so they can receive the right treatment at the right time.

Mills is now on DAY 2 of the trek, and sounds close to tears. Please help, if you can!! He's very tired, too hot, absolutely no mobile 'phone reception, surrounded by scorpions, camels, brooding hills, evil twisted snakes, sand ... and, Craig David!!

Apparently Scott will be using up so much energy, it will be the equivalent of eating 27 bowls of cornflakes per day!!

Plus, he's in the desert with the eternally cheerful Lorraine Kelly... surely having her for company has to be worth a £1.00 today. :hahaha:

Also, don't forget to visit www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/scottmills/ to view where Scott is actually staying, see his team mates and see his ultra exciting white tent!! You may find it funny, depending on your sense of humour!! woo *

* I didn't.

I know!! It's amazing what he can do with all his millions of listeners!!

Yesterday, ONLY 0.25% of listeners were actually donating. Today, thanx to Moyles + team, the money coming in was £41.00 PER SECOND, which is remarkable. The Red Nose total now stands at £184,000.00!!

As well as dealing with unhinged DONKEYS going in a huff during the day, Scott's team had a bad night last night. When they arrived at their camp for the night, there was NO FOOD and NO TENTS. This morning, Scott woke up to find Olly Murs' BOTTOM smack in his face. The thought of this HAS to be worth £1.00 - surely?

As the team continue to struggle with the task and each other, every donation helps, so DESERT to 70011 !! Or donate online via www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/

Wherever you live in the UK, you’re highly likely to be within 30 miles of a project that’s using your cash to change lives and transform communities.

Why not visit: www.rednoseday.com/change-lives/the-difference-on-your-doorstep - all you need to do is tap in your postcode, and see what kind of projects Red Nose Day is helping right here in the UK, as well as in actual Africa.

Thanx to everyone donating, Comic Relief has been able to spend over £205 million pounds since 1985 in the UK !!

Last day of the trek... Scott's team yesterday came across the skeleton of a giraffe which had died in the heat!! Bleuch.

Olly Murs has unfortunately been taken very ill because of the intense, unbearable heat.

Lorraine Kelly received a lovely message from her daugher this morning, and wound up in a mountain of tears - So, one last push... text DESERT to 70011 !! :-)

It would be so good if the funds raised passed the £500,000.00 mark, eh? Almost there.

We get it Viv, no need to keep spamming the forum with it all the time.

There are guests who view these Boards as well as members. Every guest = potentially £1.00 towards Red Nose Day. If more people had bothered to post and interact in this topic, it could have got more attention than it did.

Alas, nobody cares. Only 2,527 views at this moment... and it could have been easily twice that. Another day, another disappointment.

Weren't you telling us just the other week about being more careful with your money, even reconsidering giving it to Radio1 campaigns?

Reconsidering is probably the main word in this sentence. But then,

1. I've a soft spot for R1, so I just thought of sacrifices to make in other areas, in order to have some cash.

2. The more I decided (online) to look into the Africa stuff, the more horrified I was.... sat here with my bunch of material possessions, sufficient clothing (yet still think I need loads more), water bottles, food, blah, blah (boring myself now) ... I just decided it wasn't too big a "feat" to donate something after all.

3. It's a pity these kind of topics wind up full of irrelevant posts really. *

* This should have been a great, supportive topic - it wasn't.

Well done Scott and team. You've made it, and have done a fantastic job.:D

Seconded. The trek is now over, and tomorrow the Team will get to hotels for actual showers, and some well-deserved sleep. Moyles was saying this morning everyone looks absolutely filthy and grubby and gross.

Scott will also have his mobile reception back by tomorrow, so if you have anything to say (nice), go for it!!!!! :-()
