The more I think about this, the less I understand it.
Vick and Katie would be a good Going Home show without Jamie.
What did happen in the aftermath of Jordan leaving.  Did Katie initially turn it down and they persuaded her to change her mind?  Did they see the reaction to Jamie and see that they needed Katie to balance out the loss of Jordan?
Some odd chain of events has happened

Considering nothing else changed with the show yesterday - it’ll probably be Judge Jamie 😆

I there is something to be said about how with radio and reality television like Made In Chelsea that with reality show like that its a semi-scripted and planned persona to play a soap character version of yourself make yourself more entertaining. But with radio it’s such a contrastingly different medium as your job is to have a conversation with the listener and create a sense of intimacy. 
 

It just shows how we are all different and have different humour as I would have laughed out loud most days with Jordan there and at best I tolerated today.

"I only have famous friends" - if he is trying to prove "he isn't just a posh idiot" this is probably not a wise start.

I think there is a lot of truth in this...if they let Katie dominate things a little, this has the potential to be ok.  The biggest problem for me today is it was almost like Vick and Katie with Jamie as the star guest and focus of attention.

Jamie says he isn't just a 'posh idiot' but that's literally the persona he plays to on this programme.
Amazed by how little he knows about Going Home, he seems surprised by the dinner feature.

I can only judge Jamie from his maternity cover for Mollie King and then the 'Going Home' podcast and yep jury is out massively on him to put it kindly.
When he was covering for Mollie the whole show felt very Jamie centered and he really didn't seem to have learnt the basics at all. Some errors can be excused - missed Newsbeat intros happen to even the best - but if there was an error to be made he'd normally make it. For example you'd have him talking & singing over jingles and even towards the end of his cover for Mollie he was still struggling to get the Whatsapp number correct.
And there were warning bells in that podcast - not everybody on Radio 1 has to be a radio nerd but knowing Drive is one of the biggest radio slots and hell knowing when your show starts should really be the absolute bare minimum.
I think for the revamped Going Home to be a success it really has to be him being a sidekick to Vick & Katie. Both are very good broadcasters and a trusted pairing whereas if Jamie takes centre stage it could quickly be a turn-off for people.

With no disrespect to him - he is naturally going to put a brave face on this.

Having Katie there will also dilute Jamie.
Radio 1 really has pulled out the stops to compensate for Jordan's departure.
You do get the impression station management realised how bad the situation was and had to strengthen the line-up a lot.

That will be unlistenable - you know that already.

I do feel a little sorry for Dean and Vicky.  The show hasn't worked but I am inclined to blame management more than them.  Dean's recent Breakfast covers have shown that he has more potential than some of us gave credit.

Also note the reference to the show being 1300 to 1500 - didn't Jamie Laing mention Going Home starting at 1500 somewhere.  Maybe there is a plan or both Jamie and a journalist have got it wrong (very possible).

Agree.  They have been great this week.
I will switch to Capital for Jordan, Chris and Sian but I would be tempted to come back to Radio 1 if it was Sam & Danni on Drive.  I don't think I could take Capital all day so I will likely finally switch to Radio 2 after Breakfast. (except Fridays and Saturdays).

She’s one of the biggest assets to the station that could have a more prolonged career at the station than a fair few of those who currently on daytime. One with Jordan’s departure could risk losing.

True that. If he does get to take on a show permanently it would likely be when the next major presenter(s) leave daytime or even likely to leave weekends.
