Yes all speculation. It's always been Matt covering Greg for as long as I can remember. Its stuck out with it being two breakfast covers that have gone to jordan now, so it's two times in a row he hasn't been available,  Matt still being on air both friday's and then Mollie put on breakfast away her regular show with Matt.
I'll be happy to hear something new and Jordan and Katie were great together so this should also be a good listen

Matt does have lots of time off so maybe he has said he doesn’t want to do it this time? Matt and Mollie do each other justice, so I wouldn’t be sure why they’d want to change that.

A couple of things. I don’t get the interest in Mollie King, I think she’s a good pop star but I haven’t rated her as a radio presenter. She’s not natural on air. However, pairing her up with Jordan might bring that out, who knows! Jordan wants the big gig, he told us in an interview, admittedly joking. Although, it’s clear Vick doesn’t want to do Breakfast again. Jordan and Mollie is a strange pairing, although most of us thought the same when Vick and Jordan were paired up, and now I think they’re great! I’m actually going to miss Vick and Jordan next week :((

Based on what we've seen, the fact Mollie has her own show, plus is being partnered up with other male DJs on the station, I really doubt they would want to let her go. I do think it's entirely possible that given M&M in the current format hasn't made it to weekdays, they'll be looking to the future and thinking, how long should it stay like that for? What's the development of that slot? Is Mollie better put together with someone like James or Jordan to make a brand new show for weekdays?
It sticks out like a sore thumb that they've passed Matt for breakfast cover twice in a row over Jordan
 
 
 

Maybe they are going for the method that "Drive host is main breakfast dep/in waiting" again like when Scott was on drive he was main breakfast cover clearly Jordan is the next in line for Breakfast although stranger things have happened (Moyles left and Grim came when everyone thought it would be Scott) wouldnt suprise me at all if RMC are next breakfast

Jordan & Mollie are in for Greg from Friday 20th to Friday 27th October.
Matt is solo on Friday 20th October.
Katie is in for Jordan from Monday 23rd to Thursday 26th October.
Vick is off too on Wednesday 25th - so it's Katie solo! 
Jamie is in for Mollie on Friday 27th October.

Anita Rani is in for Dermot O'Leary on Saturday 14th and 21st October
Richard Osman is sitting in for Rob Beckett on Sunday 15th and 22nd October

They do and I hate to say it you're right, Dean just doesn't come across as popular at all and isn't that the aim of the game, to be popular to your target market? D + V are better solo.
In contrast I'm Radio 1s exact target audience and I only read on facebook, on here or on Digital spy people saying good things about James, either when he's by himself or after this weekends shows with Mollie King.
Also is it just me that thinks if you put someone like Mollie and James on afternoons you instantly put a bit of that prestigiousness back into radio 1 daytimes that it lost when Scott went? A presenter who is actually well known (Mollie) and presenter the audience clearly like and warm to and who fills the northern gap (James)

I've seen James posting some show clips on his instagram. Listening back now that kind of show could easily be on weekday afternoons and better what I could listen to at this exact time. Them two together was really fun.
He's showed what a brilliant Radio 1 presenter he is. From poking fun at mollie for being late (but in an endearing way by saying how he does it too at home and we all do it) to then his humour which is very self deprecating.
His features are very creative, content is bang on target, he's naturally funny and most of all you feel like his mate. Bringing that northern relatable guy feel to the show that I think Radio 1 is very much missing. Definitely has the jordan north likeability factor.
Radio 1 would be mad not to give him his own show or one with Mollie. Seems global have taken note now, they have him on both Capital and heart (which no other presenter does) and it'd be a big loss if they got him to sign full time before Radio 1 moved.
My bet is on the next change a show for him either solo or with Mollie after this weekend.

Lot of 'ideal radio schedules' on these forums, but how does your radio day look?
I usually start with Greg James, move on to Vernon Kay, then a little bit of Rickie Melvin and Charlie, listen to Scott Mills and then back to Vick and Jordan.
Weekends it's Sam and Danni, Ed Gamble and Matthew Crosbie on Radio X, Matt and Mollie then Dance Anthems or Life Hacks.

To add also Jordan and Katie, Roman Kemp, Chris were there too...Saturday evening...there are picures of them on a train station (Daily Mail).
Scott even said he was crying during the ceremony.

The problem is with Radio 2 having the 00s stuff, is that they need to grow some balls so to speak. We can't have play it safe Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Will Young all the time. They need to play stuff like Pendulum, Linkin Park, Slipknot. Some of the popular dance and trance stuff too. This is how the 00s was and how we remember it. Otherwise if they don't it still suits Radio 1 better. 

Agreed,with Rylan, Scott, Angela Griffin, DJ Spoony spinning 00s tracks on 2 it would be a better fit.

Agreed with the likelihood of this but when she is given a generic show it can either make or brake your career. I understand that covering someone else’s show unless you have built up a large audience and a listeners like Scott did with his breakfast stint it would be barely a must listen. But maybe got to give Nat some chance.

Leave the microphones up and make D.I.Y noises through songs you don't like.

Feels like there's a strong push with the new Weekend Breakfast. Sam and Danni have been doing new headshots, and the boss is in Wales for the programme. Can't remember a buzz behind a new show since the new daytime schedules last year.
