Wow, you've got DECADES of turbulence ahead of you  ?

My one problem with all of this - Katie has been a bit ‘forgotten’ with all of this. Realistically, she did deserve that morning a lot having been on the waiting list for a bigger slot for about four years. 

Personally I'd like them to announce before September that we're going back to a Monday to Friday schedule with the exception of the chart show. Doesn't seem likely though.

Thought I’d put my twopence worth in, as I realise I haven’t posted on here too much since Greg took over breakfast.
Greg’s incarnation of the Radio 1 Breakfast Show is by far my favourite in my time listening to the station (since the last few years of Moyles’ tenure on breakfast), as I much prefer the comedic, listener centric format to the more “showbiz”,  celebrity focused  formats used elsewhere on other youth-targeted breakfast shows (naming no names)
Radio 1 has to be different to commercial competitors, and I truly believe they currently have the most distinctive breakfast show in the market.
It is also one that is easily distilled into short social media snippets, which allow storylines (such as the recent “Tom the Young Farmer” saga) to play out to wider audiences away from linear radio, to hopefully hook new listeners into the show and keep them listening regularly. 
As others have said, the recent awards for Greg, Scott, and the station itself at the ARIAs prove that Radio 1 are getting it right, especially on weekday daytime.
I can definitely see Jordan getting drive when Grimmy moves on, but that doesn’t seem likely until at least 2022, given the refreshed schedule published in April that is due in September.
RMC getting mid-mornings does seem a smart move given Clara’s promotion to Future Sounds, as they always provide an entertaining listen. 
I hope Scott will continue on afternoons, as his show is still one of the best on the station, although I can see him doing more Radio 2 cover shifts alongside it. 
 
 
 
 

Completely agree here. Personally Radio 1 Breakfast is my fav it's ever been (was never a fan of Moyles but I was probs a little too young really) - Greg provides exactly what you need in the morning, a laugh, some stupid stuff that takes you away from what's actually happening in the crazy world and loads of decent (and a wide variety) of music. As others have said I think this is the best R1 has ever been. There isn't a time when I don't want to listen (whereas previously I would have only listened to selective shows). Even most of the cover is pretty good, like Radio 1 Breakfast with Matt & Mollie works really well when Greg isn't there, likewise with Vick & Katie covering for Scott & Chris.

Personally think the streams are a great idea. You can select the music type for your mood wether it be dance or chill. You don’t have to go searching through sounds to find a show and date. Let’s face it a stream whereby the content has already been broadcasted isn’t costing huge sums of money.

It’s going to be sad to Annie leave after so many years at Radio 1, but it definitely feels like she wasn’t pushed and that it was her own decision.
Clara getting Future Sounds is a promotion for her though, and I for one can’t wait to hear the new show, as she definitely has a talent for new music radio. 

I think Grimmy sounds great on afternoons, much better than his breakfast show. My only complaint is I'd rather he did 4 til 7. The 5.45 finish still seems too abrupt. 
Feels like this site is a bit too caught up on fantasy schedules and departures at the moment!

Anybody else noticed how when they say "text LOL to 70703" they sometimes add the explanation that it's because of the Lolathon. Someone belatedly realised that playing out serious emotional appeals about serious issues and then responding to them with a "LOL" was a bit crude and ill thought through.

Harry Hill and Lee Nelson on in the last hour. Both massive WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO's, in my opinion!

I'll grab it all off iPlayer and stick it on archive.org, so it can sit with the 52 hour Moyles show!

As I mentioned in the chatbox, Bauer stations are broadcasting the brits this year, between 7 and 11pm, I believe they may have snagged exclusive radio rights to it for the next few years. As I type this, Alice and Clara from R1 are on ITV2 doing the red carpet show, which I think is just pre recorded interviews and some montages.
Update: Tried to listen to the networked Bauer show, gave up after 5 minutes, truly awful, even by Bauer standards

Scott's podcast is only around 25-35 minutes a day for a three hour show these days, whereas it was verging on an hour two or three years ago.

It doesn't help that they now shorten some songs so they can squeeze in even more of the 'popular hits'. 
And they've definitely upped the music quotas (again), Scott has to play a song in the middle of Real or No Real now and it's been cut down to 3 facts instead of 4. Today there was only 2 facts because he spoke to Greg for too long - Greg goes "I feel short changed, isn't there normally 3?" to which Scott responded "yes but I've got to play the hits". Sounds like they've definitely been told to play more songs / not drop them.

On a slightly related note, would anyone know where you can obtain a Moyles mug from, either Radio X or Radio 1 branded? I want one to add to my (very) small collection of TV/ Radio Merchandise?  If anyone happens to know or possibly have one they wouldn't mind sending , drop me a line.
