DC got a reaction from onlyME in Why is Scott hardly ever on his own programme?
Scott nor any other daytime presenter dont pick their own music by the way, that's the radio 2 playlist team who tailor music to certain shows (hence calmer music for Jeremy Vine etc). And Scott is getting married, probably the biggest event in his life. So kinda think that needs time away to be done properly.

Not sure he's off anymore than any other presenter. I can think of many more that have more time off like Rylan.
Scott is a key figurehead at BBC and does a lot of other things - the Eurovision stuff, the Country countdown, Bank Holiday specials.
The exception seems to be the time off for his wedding which I don't think people can begrudge.
Seems a little strange to join a Scott Mills fsnsite to slag off him and other presenters coincidentally.

Or agreed time off from his bosses... He's off for five weeks, back on April 2nd. Having time off from work doesn't make someone a 'diva'?

This place has done well over the last 20 years, a big part of that is that Scott has been so relevant since 1998 up till now. But I do feel this place is now more of a radio 1 forum than Scott Mills fansite these days. It's a combination of the youngest of his listeners from his last days at Radio 1, and the fact that his radio 2 show is a bit of a culture shock to that same age group. It's very play-it-safe in comparison to all of his radio 1 work. For us older crew we've naturally transitioned over to Radio 2 with Scott. But for those who are only still young and have only heard him from about 2018ish, then I do understand it's a jump too soon.
chrismoyles.net is a treasure trove to his radio 1 days. Which of course are his best. But considering he's been back on the air on a major commercial radio station for a number of years now. It's very very quiet. Granted his listeners back then are the generation after Scott's mostly. So probably just don't do forums anymore.
For the past DJ's there is a Mark and Lard Facebook group, which is members only sorta thing. I'm in there and we got a massive hint that they would be getting back together near the back end of last year. Someone who's obviously connected with them posted a photo shoot they did together in there last year. When they left in 2004 biggedybong.com was started up but dried up about 2007ish. The fb group nowdays though is very active.
For radio 1 jocks to have their own fansite back in the day, they would have to be pretty special and top of their game.

Don't know what's been said on his socials but if it's bad enough to make him come off air (if that's the truth). Then nothing can justify that. I know you put yourself in the limelight being on Radio 1, and to a degree have to have thick skin. But some of the things that get said are way way overboard. I know it's the 30 odd year old bloke, old man thing to say. But in a lot of ways things were better years ago. Social media has many great points, but also comes with too many negatives.
I've seen even the older generation use it against Scott when he moved to Radio 2 as I've said before. Bottom line is these are people going to work and doing a job, if they aren't for you switch off and find something else.

Yes I'm sure, and have done for many years too. Not only the current generation, rewind 20 plus years ago and Chris Moyles used to visit chrismoyles.net. Mark and Lard regularly used to shout out users in the newsgroups dedicated to their show (newsgroups are a proper late 90s thing). "Pobice" was the guy (or girl) who managed that back then.
Scott has been by here many many times. His old producer Laura is registered on here. Chappers used to call us "geekworld".
In the 00s we used to open topics each week where we'd discuss the show live. I remember at 4pm one day when everyone jumped on to say hello. I said to everyone "God your hair looks lovely today". Knowing that I couldn't see anyone at all. First link Scott does at 4 he repeats that line, so he and the team back then would have been on here

There a reason commercial radio don't want the BBC to launch new stations.  It would allow Radio 2 to split making a older station and develop the current Radio 2 more for our generation. It would make Radio 2 very appealing which is not what they want.  I hope the BBC wins because we need more radio for us.

I do think this is worrying times for radio 1. As an old head I recall Moyles leaving but you felt there was a solid guaranteed future for the station. Scott still there, big experienced names to sort stuff out when it got tough. It was the same when Mark and Lard went, Simon Mayo, Chris Evans etc years and years back. But now it feels like with Jordan North going it's going to sound like a load of teenagers giggling amongst themselves. And I point to mid mornings on that imo. Radio 1 need a big young star who can present, and who's already popular to come in and create a fuss. And I mean someone who can be relevant for the next gen, not radio 1s current target audience. Aim for 2030.

Gutted if there's no 1940's. I was gonna request George Formby When I'm Cleaning Windows, and dedicate it to all the 1970's whippersnappers. Telling them this is real music, not your T-Rex nonsense or Garry Glitter.

I've presented before. Also done travel bulletins in my old job for Free Radio 80s, BBC Reigionals up and down the UK (WM, Lincolnshire, Humberside, Shropshire, Bristol). Even been on talksport in the past, my inbox went a bit barmy for the talksport ones from old friends I hadn't seen in ages asking if it was even me. This was all done from a company that used a team of broadcasters (such as me), equipped with hi tech traffic information at hand. And sold the service to various stations.

The sheer ruining of local commercial radio by the likes of Bauer, and the BBC cutbacks put an end to all of that before the first lockdown though. Great job mind, and the people I worked with were all brilliant.

Seriously though I actually remember logging onto here when I was in 6th form on the computers in the morning about September 2004. I can't still quite get my head around the fact that it was 20 years ago. I never become proper active on here till early 2005 though. I was pissing about with computers at the time recording and stuff (no bbc sounds back then for you whippersnappers), and ended up recording a few celebrity calls for the archives and clipping bits and bobs for here which are still in the archives.

I was on here every single day back then, this was our social media for my generation. I was on here saying stuff I look back on at 35 nowdays and cringe at, sometimes I find genius and don't have the same quick brain anymore. Everyday I used to tune into Scott, Chopper and Laura and come onto here to discuss a radio show I almost knew like I was sitting there in the studio with them. Good times.

Ive gone on too long. Wheel me back into the care home.

The problem is with Radio 2 having the 00s stuff, is that they need to grow some balls so to speak. We can't have play it safe Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Will Young all the time. They need to play stuff like Pendulum, Linkin Park, Slipknot. Some of the popular dance and trance stuff too. This is how the 00s was and how we remember it. Otherwise if they don't it still suits Radio 1 better.
