  1. Past hour
  2. Yes and thats the huge selling point after 6pm as always has been in the evening. As when I started listening to radio 1 about eleven twelve years ago its the station that got me into music new and familiar artists and bands. I think the issue with a lot of the new music shows being crammed in length of the shows and not all is live there’s less chance for a presenter to tell you about the band or artist or have the impression of chatting to the listener by reading out texts and emails or including voice notes. I’m really enjoying Jack Saunders’ new music show as thats how you do a show like that on Radio 1 good mix of genres but from 10pm onwards you don’t have the presenter chatting to the listener or that live feel as sometimes you need at that time.
  3. Today
  4. Given one of yesterday’s ‘bangers’ was Noah Kahan’s Stick Season, I doubt it.
  5. No chart show on the 24th May because of Big Weekend.
  6. How has it been working early mornings as a parent, Chris? Is it harder to juggle than the 1-4 slot?
  7. I still think Dua Lipa could make the line-up. She's in the Live Lounge soon. Would be a scoop if they had two of the key Glastonbury performers.
  8. Is the three bangers after nine idea meant to compete with Ten Minute Takeover?
  9. Connor Coates is in for Charlie Hedges on Saturday 18th May. Kerrie Cosh is in for Jess on Sunday 19th May.
  10. But if Radio 1's big selling point is new music it's strange. Clara fell a bit flat in comparison to her predecessors because she wasn't shaped in the same way as Annie or Zane.
  11. Yellowcard. Simple Plan. Obie Trice.
  12. Yesterday
  13. I think there's been a major cost-saving on specialist presenters - fewer of them, significantly less live output, and generally less 'big' names. Makes sense, given the budget pressures, but the comparison between this advert and today's presenters makes that really clear.
  14. Sian is in for Jack on Thursday 2nd May.
  15. Last week
  16. Less so with 5 Live. But with Nihal, Nicky Campbell and Mark Chapman get what you are saying.6 Music does have that with Huw Stephens, Mary Anne Hobbs, Gilles Peterson, Marc Riley and Mark Radcliffe
  17. Agreed, Martha seems to quietly taken over as host of the Tuesday Bass and Big Beats show that Annie Nightingale did would be good to have some promotion to be done for her show. Agreed with this on bank holidays on a Radio 1 dance day inpaticular would be quite good to have Sarah Storey, Jaguar, Jeremiah Asiamah, Charlie Tee and Martha presenting. I always felt that in Christmas and New Year previously having Victoria Jane to do a Future Soul take over playlist.
  18. To be fair to him, this week and next week he’s on his podcast tour which was arranged well before he started on R1. After that I would guess he’ll start being on everyday?
  19. It’s Jamie’s dream of a lifetime to be a full time Radio 1 presenter apparently, but he can only do it 2 or 3 days a week.
  20. Radio 1 generation meaning?? Today's 10-30 yr-olds? I doubt it. They'll still know Pete Tong though, because he is rhyming slang!
  21. There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
  22. Looks like it's off to Preston!
  23. 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock. 6th May schedule has updated to show that the Radio 1 Big Weekend Shows will now be the following: 6am-10am 10am-2pm 2pm-6pm 6pm-8pm Still no presenters listed.
  24. Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
  25. Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing. Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
  26. I've been reminded of this Radio 1 cinema advert. I remember being so excited to see it. The In New Music We Trust era. Everything felt so cool, even if they had Westwood.
  27. Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
  28. Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false. Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global? He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC. Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful? It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going. Roman and Jordan have the same management team. Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC. They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer. They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him. If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker. Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan. None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones. It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
  29. Wow, surprised he signed a new contract in September but it says a lot about Jordan that he continued to a very high standard throughout last summer/autumn if this was all going on in the background.
