Alright Treacle? It's only bley Monday!

Chappers in hair dye and make-up room drama?

As Scott pointed out, whilst Chappers is on his Channel 5 Sports Show, he appeared to have, as Scott described: 'mousy brown hair', which has now changed to a definite shade of solid brown. Does this mean that our Chopper has been dying his hair? It could well be true, considering the fact that on today's show, he admitted live on air to having had highlights in the past, and also to having his eyebrows coloured in by a make-up artist.

Wikipedia

Now, as we all know, Scott regularly likes to check his Wikipedia site, as there is always something out of the ordinary on there (like the infamous time it stated that he was actually dead). Today, he has discovered that his page has been tampered with yet again, this time saying that he is married to Dave Pearce, and the nupitals took place in 2003. To add to this, they also have an adopted child. Scott likened Wikipedia editing to an 'all you can eat buffet' -- you can only go back so many times.

Baggy Trousers

Scott mentioned today that the US (city/town, I don't do Geoggers) Atlanta is banning baggy trousers, and also women are to be banned from wearing sports bras. Why, you ask? Because allegedly they are deemed crude, i.e: the baggy trousers showing underwear and the like.

Also, in Dubai, a 'virtual nudist community' has been created as an accommodation for going to after work. People walk around completely starkers, with the exception of greengrocers trips; these require you to wear underpants.

Scott said that he would like this idea to be brought to Radio 1, and had a bet with The One That Doesn't Speak, betting that when they asked Chopper who he would most like to see naked at Radio 1, he would incorporate a Dave Pearce joke.

Flirt Divert

Nice to see that the legendary number has been put to good use once again over the weekend, my personal favourite today had to be the slimy creep who wanted to: 'Have a bit of a bump and grind again'. Also, did anyone else notice, (or was it just me?) that the chap who had 'a pint of lager with her name on it', sound vaguely like Mark Owen?

Random Act of Kindness Update

Hopefully, we all know the story of Cass on this feature last Wednesday. For those that don't, Cass, 11, tragically lost her best friend to a car crash last year. So, after receiving a phone call off of Zach Efron (my current person I like), Cass attended the after party, with a 'country club' theme. Here, the youngster indulged in having her hair styled, her nails painted and tattoos applied, and also mingled amongst stars such as Patsy Kensit, Carrie and David Grant, Bonnie Langford and the majority of the cast of Billy Elliot.

Fearne Cotton

It's Fearne's birthday today, and instead of the usual jewellery or perfume a normal girl opts for, Fearne decided she would like a phone call courtesy of Louis Walsh. Louis called Fearne, asking her if she would like to record a charity single, which would be a cover of 'These Boots Are Made For Walking' by Nancy Sinatra. Fearne refused point blank to sing on it, saying she couldn't sing, and would rather rap on it. When Louis said she could rap on it, she declined and still refused to record it! Spoil sport! Meanwhile Reggie had an innuendo in the show today "I literally came first in a soggy biscuit competition the other week!" Lovely.

Woman in America

Scott brought us a slice of news from across the pond again in this show. This being about a woman who came out as being gay at the grand ol' age of 88, having had a girlfriend for 44 years. Didn't those close to her suspect a thing? Apparently not. She claimed she 'had dated men, but never had had a serious boyfriend.'

Finally, Scott's trying to work out how he's going to get home now the tube is on strike. Does he get a taxi (which everyone will get), a bus or does he walk? Scott would get a bus, but wishes it was easier to get one. He just wants to pay the conductor and go. Chappers points out there's no conductors these days, and there hasn't been since 1960.

That's all for today's show, folks! Don't forget to tune in tomorrow and you can also download the podcast for the best clips!

    • Yeah I don’t think they’ll be anything that drastic - maybe a week or 2 of cover on early breakfast etc, but maybe just having that weekend afternoon slot covered over the summer means they can put someone on from September who maybe isn’t available until then?
    • But they said the main changes would happen in July.
    • But they said the main changes would happen in July.
    • I wouldn't be surprised if they do this around June time: 05.00 Ore Olukoga 07.00 Greg James 10.30 RMC 14.00 VKJ That'll probably happen (for my guess) from the 17th June. And for weekends: 07:00 Sam & Danni 11:00 Gregor Davidson 15:00 Charlie Hedges Maybe Fridays aswell: 07:00 Greg James 11:00 Gregor Davidson 14:30 Jack Saunders
    • The Summer on Radio 1 thing makes me wonder whether they might be doing something similar to last year again where they have a temporary schedule over the summer before introducing changes in September - maybe the new host won’t start until after the summer?
    • There was talk on my Big Weekend group from the council about them waiting for Ticketmaster to send an email out. They said they've been waiting a week. Maybe they're waiting for train strike confirmation first.
    • It’s on Saturday and Friday that week too. I guess this would make sense, as it gives them roughly 6 weeks off weekends until they start the new show?
    • Yeah he's on more than usual including this Sunday and then 3 more shows in May according to the above. Makes me think it's James for the weekend shows also
    • For some reason there is 'Summer on Radio 1' listed on Sunday 2nd June, could this be replacing M&M until July?
    • They seem to be using James more for cover now makes me think it will be him getting weekends eitjer breakfast or 1 till 4
    • Yep am very much Capital Breakfast now. Jordan, Chris and Sian are a great trio and it's got that feel of the old shows Jordan and Chris used to do on Radio 1. It doesn't take itself too seriously but is packed full of content and slick. With Greg he's great but 6 years in you've probably heard it all before plus frankly I can sit through the Capital Playlist a lot more easily than the Radio 1 playlist (where some of the inclusions and omissions can be quite baffling at times). Plus after things like the Oscars or Met Gala or if there's a particularly big TV show or film or popstar then Greg won't half wang on about it at times. I guess it's partly to be expected with it being a Breakfast show on a young station but it can feel very London bubble and get tired.
    • Ore Olukoga is in for Arielle on Tuesday 14th May. James Cusack is in for Danny Beard on Saturday 1st June. James Cusack is in for Nat on Sunday 2nd June.
    • I honestly never thought in a million years I’d move from Radio 1 to be a regular Capital breakfast show listener. But it’s got pretty much everything I want - 3 really genuine, entertaining mates having a laugh, playing silly games and it all sounds great. I became a big fan of Chris from his days with Scott, became a Jordan fan on Going Home, and Sian Welby is newer to me but is loads of fun too. It’s great and I’ve shocked myself by transferring my listening at breakfast. For me Greg’s show now feels very tired and it’s time for something new. But with Jordan gone that’s unlikely to happen anytime soon. Greg’s had a great run and I’m a fan - but there’s no new ideas now. I still listen to Radio 1 at other times - but this show feels like very serious competition for Greg.
    • They have built four new studios to increase capacity, alongside the existing six. Bearing in mind that some of the output of R1, 1X, R2 & 6M comes from elsewhere, and Asian Network is gradually moving all output to Birmingham, this should be enough!
    • How do they manage to cater for 6Music and Radio 2 on that floor? Did they adapt it?
