Unofficial Mills

We all have reason to be cheerful as it's Friday. And has Scott been home these last three days as his top has been the same, but George agrues it's slightly different. And we also find who gets life is a bitch today, Scott hopes it'll involve Dave Pearce naked bungee jumping. Not really the image I wanted to wake up to this morning.

More naked listeners on again this morning, although it felt more like a feeble excuse to fill the time. Today included some guy who was clearly from the OK! Go fan club requesting one of their tracks. He claims he was naked, but who cares, he didn't get his request. The most worrying part of the feature came from a text from Scott's English teacher. She's naked, and was listening.

Scott's in many local newspapers today - the Grimsby Evening Telegraph, Sbobobobohorpe telegraph and The Star - talking about his car. The Star has an amazing write-up on Page 27, featuring a quote from Jo Whiley saying "it isn't just revenge it's carma". See what she did there! The Daily Sport meanwhile goes with the carma pun but rather than putting a photograph of Scott, puts a nice picture of Heather Mills in there. She knows all about karma. Jo Whiley was not impressed Scott's favourite person to drive with was Davina McCall. She then found it quite amusing the incident where Scott hit the small child.

And as we were discussing yesterday on the UM forum, there's a new version of Sean Kingston's Beautiful Girls circulating on the internet. It's a reply song, by JoJo. Why she's done this we're not too sure...

<I>Chappers: "I didn't think it had anything to do with her, how arrogant is she? He should just say it didn't have anything to do with you love, shut up..."</I>

Chris Brown has also just done a mix of Rihanna's Umberella, called Cinderella.

<i>Chappers: "I think I might prefer Dave's Will Mellor!"</I>

Meanwhile, Chappers had juicy gossip about the management of Radio 1. The marketing has moved offices, and the big boss of Radio 1 has moved offices too. He says it's alright to discuss it as they'll be listening to Five Live. Apparently the big boss needed his desk to be circular with a diameter of between 130cm and 140cm.

<I>Scott: "Imagine if it was 142cm, heads would have rolled!</I>

More innuendo bingo featuring Mike Hock on Radio 2.

On Flirt Divert, was the actual Scott Mills, who claims it was a mistake and he was trying to actually access the voicemail settings. Chappers thinks it was a cover up, and was actually given the number. There was also a bloke who'd given up interest on giving his number, and a guy after rumpy pumpy. This led to Chopper telling his famous story of a girl from Hull. He'd met this girl who he was going out with for a week, he got a bit of a headache one night, and Man United were losing the football. He didn't fancy going to see her, so went to bed. Meanwhile his mate told the girl he wanted to see her at his accomodation, and she turned up with a bag of chips. He dumped her and took her chips. Finally, a girl that sounds just like she's off of Mysteeq. Remember them?

Six Weeks of Summer goes to Global Gathering tomorrow. It's been pretty much set up for Sara Cox to take 'Life's A Bitch' as Dave Pearce really couldn't be arsed.

<I>Chappers: I like that predictive text for bitch is 'chubby' so someone sent in a message saying 'I think Dave should do life's a chubby'</i>

And Dave was on shortly after feeling rather tired and emotional after a night at Newquay.

Finally, an amusing story about Oscar the Grimereaper cat. Everytime the cat in this retirement home spends an hour or two with the old people, they pop the clogs. My theory is it's sitting on the oxygen tube.

    • Wednesday, surely? But this is another mess, as this weeks Summer press release said it’ll be Sam & Danni no Jamie from the 28th - so it’s actually a whole week earlier!
    • Jamie Laing’s last show before his summer break will be on Wednesday 16th July.
    • I worked out once Scott spent 3 months of a year off his own slot in the Moyles days and more like 4 in Grimmys days, six weeks of his own holiday and projects, six covering Grimmy plus some ad hoc days
    • Back on topic, I think there's quite a few of the current Radio 1 presenters who would be able to adapt to Radio 2's style in the future. It's more of question of how many of them will actually end up there. With much of R2's line up changed over the past couple of years, it's quite possible we won't see much movement there, and R2 management might even decide to look elsewhere to bring in new presenters in future.
    • With OJ covering on bank holidays. She is the best person for the job however... they're going to end up with a situation like Scott covering R1 breakfast back in the day, where she spends quite a bit of time off her own slot covering Breakfast, plus her own holiday and other commitments. She's been filming for something recently which has meant she's been off several days a week since May. She was off last week, on breakfast this week, OJ is on Mon/Tues next week, then She's off the following two weeks.
    • Looking back at this I would say now that Sara is the main cover - I think she has been reestablished as it now
    • Purley on the R1 Dance station.. Someone on DS said don't expect to see any changes to the schedule on the new stations however if they are taking on Capital Dance with this, which they clearly are, which has live presenters 7am - 10pm except for the 11am mix then they'll surely have to have a proper scheduled set of shows. At the moment Arielle is the only "live" per say show and only "live" a few days a week with earlier shows being repeated Thursday Friday and Saturday. Connor and Charlie are clearly pre records but was this only for the time it was online only and they have already got a schedule ready to go on day 1? also of note is that Charlie is taking over a podcast as well as starting a new project with podcasting which makes me wonder if she is about to step back from Dance Anthems all together to concentrate on those and Connor takes over? So you could have Arielle doing 9-12 weekdays live then someone else 12-3 and Connor live 3-6 on R1D and doing Dance Anthems on a Saturday.
    • As none of the Going Home Team aren't currently on the air, that's a bit if an issue. Considering most of the Dance DJs will be out there, I'm surprised none of them are being utilised to host the 1-4 slot that weekend.
    • Going Home presenters have done the last few years ?
    • Nat and Vicky are being sent to Ibiza this year. They’ll be live on Friday 1st August from 1-4pm.
    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
