Much apologies for the lack of review yesterday, you just can't get the staff these days. We'll try to get a quick review up to fill the gap for that soon...

And they call it puppy love...

Chappers was looking incredibly smart this morning, he's off to a press conference, but wasn't wearing a tie as it's quite a relaxed one. So no doubt he was looking like David Cameron when he doesn't like to wear a tie, because he's down with the kids. Scott went to Manchester yesterday to participate in a new television quiz - Identity - hosted by Donnie Osmond. He had an embarrassing moment where he thought Donnie had come over to high five him, but he actually walked straight past him. So Scott pretended to fiddle with his hair.

Service with a smile

The Florist Call was also back on again today. So far it seems no matter how crazy the theme for a message on the flowers, florists will put it on the card. Even burglary, as we found out today. Although she did question what it was all about, she was happy to do it. It even makes them sound a bit like Stephen Hawking - hi boys!

My Name Is Scott - Karma's gonna get ya Jo Whiley

My Name Is Scott was back again today too. It's Episode 4, and to celebrate this milestone, Scott had a unique theme tune for it all! Quite impressive I have to say, although it does sound quite similar to some other theme tune. Then again that doesn't stop these music big wigs like Mark Ronson succeeding in life. Anyway, today involved Jo Whiley getting her revenge for Scott making all those calls to the specialist show DJs. She'd taken Scott's sh*t mobile from the carpark near the BBC, to a field near her home, and acquired a few tools to do it in. From this feature we can gather Jo was only just pipped to the post when it came to auditions for Eastenders' Stella - what a secret psycho! She seemed quite used to using sledgehammers to knock Scott's car windows in, and knocking the car about. As Scott failed to answer many questions about cars, Jo Whiley went in with the kill... a tank! No ammunition involved, but she did flatten it by driving it over the top. She even did a very familliar looking pose in the tank with her arm. Take a look at the pictures and videos at bbc.co.uk/radio 1 and I'm pretty sure it'll be on a video podcast sometime soon!

She was shortly after back in the studio to talk about it, and to prove that she really did it. But clearly the excitement had gone to her, and what sounded like an 'F Word' was heard. Oh well, it's all good publicity for Scott's show. That's what karma does you see... Jo wrecks Scott's car, Scott's karma is gone, and it's Jo that does all the mistakes. The newspapers even went to the trouble of claiming it happened on Jo's show.

The curse of Scott's phones

And Ewan McGregor was on. Moyles had clearly lost interest, as he's buggered off on holiday for his final week. But the curse of the phones was back on today, when Ewan's satellite phone lost it's signal. He did keep returning to say the occasional few words, before it'd cut out again. So I've no idea what he was on about, but he's doing some very good things for charity. More on that next week, hopefully. Read the story here where some motorbike magazine managed to pick up more than me.

Also on today's show...

Heroes was on last night... did you watch it? I didn't, but Scott claims he did, but he couldn't get into it. Quite surprising really considering he says in Heat magazine it's his favourite television show. A case of the Scott Mills imposter once more perhaps? Don't forget Radio 1 are off to Global Gathering this weekend. Coxy and Dave Pearce. It's a winning combination. And Scott was after your ideas for what they could get one of them to do as part of 'Life's A Bitch'. Many suggestions coming in - with the best three options have been put together in a poll now on Radio 1 online. Get voting for that right now!

For the first time in months we got to hear about Big Brother. As Heat magazine claims, Scott watches it, but it's a guilty pleasure. Laura saw it last night, and there was a big hissy fit when Chanelle was forced to play the violin in front of everyone. Laura backed her up, and said that if it makes her nervous she shouldn't have to do it. Laura says she's felt like that before. This being the girl that does most of the stunts on the street including dressing up as a man trying to get into a strip club.

Oh, and another sneak preview of Colin's Black Hole was on to save us from all this insanity. It's daily now, and unlike these show reviews, they mean daily! Today Scott played out an interesting mix of Murder She Wrote, and a rather cool mix of Liam Lynch with Star Wars. Even those that have never seen the movies, like me, found it amusing.

Another very random show, but cannot be faulted. Hearing Scott's show day in and day out, it's always amusing to hear the show when things don't go to plan, as they always turn out the funniest bits. Another daily show review tomorrow... and it's only bloody Friday!

    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
    • - Jamie Laing will take a break from Going Home from 28th July. Sam and Danni will cover. - Greg James will host his show until 11am from 21st July (Monday to Thursday only). - Mylo and Rosie, who previously hosted Hits Radio Breakfast in West Yorkshire, will host Friday EB in July. - Charley Marlowe of TikTok fame will host Friday EB in August. - Tskenya Frazer will host Life Hacks with Lauren Layfield in July, whilst Yinka Bikinni will host with Lauren in August. - Jamie Laing and Katie Thistleton will return to Going Home in September.
