  1. I sincerely hope the producers of the show don't get problems from this, though the policy of displaying the source phone numbers with the texts needs reviewing. Dappy broke the law by taking the details down and using them personally, regardless of the intent - if he'd fancied the girl this would have been the same. This is what should be pursued and punished, nothing else. I think these days with so many outlets for our comments (email, twitter, forums, etc, etc) and how they are actively solicited on the shows, it's easy to cross a line via a more direct route such as texting. For this reason I don't really have a problem with the originator, Chloe. I'm sure many people feel the same way about the band or people in it, without actually saying it publicly. For the show, I hope this blows over. It's pretty irrelevant really what show this happened on. The simple fact is the DPA was breached actively by an individual, and this is what should be pursued.

    Avatar Movie

We all love a bit of Horse-Face, surely...?
  3. Oh god, not that old chestnut again. Good to see a healthy debate - including you Aled - about this. I sometimes find the older aspects of the show (that naturally come out from Chris's actual age and interests) at odds with the station's apparent quest for a younger audience.

    Avatar Movie

I agree with DelDalek and Alan on this; I found Titanic to be a dreadful film - so long and drawn out, with characters I really couldn't give a shit about (mainly from the awful acting of the lead pair). As it was being raved about, I took my mother (who worked on some pretty impressive films) along, who actually suggested leaving halfway through - though we stuck it out to the bitter end... Have always failed to see just why it was so popular. Haven't seen Avatar yet, surprisingly. Did anyone see it on an IMAX screen?
  5. Not that much of a fan of her music, but her musical taste is a different thing altogether... I also think the show she did for Zane yesterday was fantastic, never heard such a mixture of musical styles in one show on R1 - apart from perhaps with Peel many years past. I'm absolutely not putting her in the same league in case anyone jumps on me; just enjoyed the variety. Plus the speaky bits were also well done.
  6. The 'Surgery' section is actually pretty good, move over Aled!
  7. Dizzee was fun, but Florence's choice of music has been brilliant - plus she seems absolutely adorable. Florence FTW, it seems.
  8. I know what you mean Jono, though I find having a 'rewind button' helps immensely while watching a film in the company of her indoors so we rarely get to the cinema. Ah, Florence sounds lovely...
  9. What? Spiderman PREQUEL?! Ridiculous... Can't see it being very interesting - nerd goes to school/college and get beaten up and doesn't get the better of his tormentors BY NOT HAVING ANY SUPERPOWERS, i.e. Non Spider-boy. Ridiculous.
  10. Well done to everyone in the awards this year, and thanks for the surprising nominations and votes I received (being relatively quiet these days) - much appreciated.
  11. Happy Birthday Rob! Have a great day (from David and I)...
  12. Much as I'd like James King to get the job, I can't see it over Kermode unfortunately. Never really liked Ross doing the show (other things, yes - just not this one), so am looking forward to a change.
  13. All the best for your birthday Joe. Hope to hear what you're up to these days. Many happy returns...
  14. I wouldn't want to nominate any post for this to be honest, feels a bit mean spirited commenting on (or perhaps making fun out of) other people's woes. However, I do think the What Sucks thread is a good place to let off steam...
  15. Happy New Year all UMers! May the new year bring only good things for everyone.
  16. Thread resurrection: The interview between Scott and Robbie repeated tonight has been great - they clearly got on brilliantly. (seems I did hear it before, oops).
  17. Many happy returns Helen - hope you have a brilliant Birthday!
  18. Wishing all at UM a very happy Christmas...!
  19. What a lovely message. You never had me fooled about the soft hearted side though, I'm afraid. All the best with your chosen career, we'll all look back on the times you were on the show with a smile and great fondness. Oh, and have a brilliant Christmas with your family...
  20. get_iplayer is good. http://linuxcentre.net/getiplayer/download (any platform inc. Windoze)
  21. He didn't. Hurrah! Excellent final, the best dancer lost - but for entertainment and effort alone, Chris deserved to win.
  22. :yeahthat: On topic: Beccy's doing a great job as Scott's sidekick. I may even sign up there to vote...

    Snow

Bah humbug. Too busy for snow at the moment, with too many long road trips to contemplate enjoying it. Shame, as I do actually like the stuff and how it changes the look of our surroundings. Driving in it can be fun, yes - so long as there's no pressure to get very far or at any particular time...
  24. Chappers seemed particularly grumpy this week, doesn't he like the cameras if he's not in make up?
