  1. Does feeding birds not make them lose their basic survival instinct, making them less able to find food in the wild and so, feeding the birds will end up killing them? It is what they are designed to do, find food, who are we to stop them living their lives?
  2. Careful now - you are implying there are good songs on the playlist with that question
  3. Yeah it has happened to me, potentially happening to me at the minute. It is a tough situation but remember, there are plenty of fish in the sea. If your best friend is any kind of friend and if she knows how you feel about this guy then she wont go for him, even if he tries. If she doesn't know how you feel, it would be an idea to tell her. Cheer up though - don't get hung up on little things like this, you will be fine in the long run
  4. We used to clean our flat spotless for the inspection because that was the only time it would get cleaned and then leave it till the next inspection. It was a good plan. Now I like to live in a clean environment however - you will all learn
  5. None of the money goes to the government directly, it all goes into the production of high quality tv programmes and the salaries of the workers. The BBC makes some of the best TV shows around, and unlike all other tv companies, have no need to put product placement in their tv shows. This results in programmes that are very easy to watch and much more enjoyable than the alternatives. They also have the money to hire the best presenters, script writers, engineers, etc in the world. It is a brilliant organisation, cattering for everyone and anyone who complains about the licence, remember if it wasn't for the licence fee, Scott Mills wouldn't be on the radio.
  6. Right - to clear it all up: You have to have a tv licence to watch tv, period. No question about it in Britain. " If you use a TV or any other device to receive or record TV programmes (for example, a VCR, set-top box, DVD recorder or PC with a broadcast card) - you need a TV Licence. You are required by law to have one." Since the BBC is part run by the government, not private, the BBC gets the majority of the money received from the tv licence. There are 5 main channels in the UK, BBC 1, BBC 2, ITV, Channel 4 and Five - the other 3 non-BBC channels get some of the money but still need to use advertisements to fund their channels. " A colour TV Licence costs £131.50 and a black and white licence costs £44.00." If you own a tv, you have to have a tv licence. On top of this you can pay extra for digital tv or cable. Digital is using a satelite dish to receive the channels, by far the more popular option in Britain. These services give 100s of extra channels for a monthly fee from about £15 to £50 a month. If you want to receive extra channels but not want to pay a monthly charge you can get a different box. This costs from £30, but you don't pay a monthly charge on top of this and you get an additional 60 channels. Basically though, to watch any tv - you need to habe a tv licence in the UK. Complicated: to find out who hasn't paid for their tv licence, by law, the tv licence company can not look at lists of people. Instead they need to travel around in a van and check the signals and compare. This makes it very difficult for them to find who hasn't paid.
  7. I am thinking of going to see the Pogues before christmas I think - would be amazing.
  8. Eden Road or whatever they are called on X-Factor at the minute /o\
  9. The new Magic Numbers album i very impressive musically and I love The Life Pursuit by Belle and Sebastian. Other brilliant albums from this year include The Feeling, Primal Scream, The All-American Rejects, The Kooks and Snow Patrol but there is only 1 winner of this - The Fratellis - Costello Music - it is such a diverse album and has a bit of everything. Definately in my all time favourites. And the Razorlight album is good too.

  15. I agree totally with Serin here. I am going to put a quote up from someone I know on another forum but is very apt here: it is true, the first sight of anything like this and everyone jumps on the PC gone mad bandwagon.

  23. Exactly, but some people would rather seem him being tortured for long period of times, making them as barbaric as he was. I am completely pro-life and this is a pity it has ended like this but, as I said before, it is Iraqi law and he was being tried for crimes against the Iraqi people so this is the punishment.
