Radio 1 has announced their plans for live events this year and it includes Radio 1’s Big Weekend making a return in May. This year it will include a third stage, continuing it’s success as the biggest free-ticket event in Europe.

The station will travel the UK and abroad in the summer as part of Radio 1’s six weeks of summer, and there are plans for an under-18s event in London in November.

Following on from Radio 1 Presents… The Kaiser Chiefs, there’ll be a special announcement from My Chemical Romance at the end of April.

There'll also be live coverage from Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds Festival, T In The Park, the BBC Electric Proms, and broadcasts from the Download rock and metal festival, Russian dance festival Fortdance, Icelandic festival Airwaves, Sonar and the Miami Music Conference.

Jason Carter, editor of Live Music and Events at Radio 1, said: "This year is shaping up to be amazing. We're going to focus on the events that we've built ourselves and take them to the next level and at the same time continue to broadcast all of the best live music from the UK and internationally."
