BBCAaron reacted to AndyK77 in Annie Nightingale dies aged 83
Very nice words and it is good that the tone has remained upbeat as that's exactly what she would have wanted.
It would be nice if they did a tribute show in the next week.

Toned-down start for Scott Mills' show on R2. No opening link. R1 was also playing more chill music for 20 minutes or so after the announcement.

BBCAaron reacted to Jono in Christmas TOTP
I don't think they know who their audience is. Some music aimed at Gez Z and then loads of artists from the 80s still around today. All of the artists that would appeal across the ages they didn't have the rights to. Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, etc.

You were right, on tonight and just a review of the year on BBC Two. A missed opportunity while Mrs Brown's Boys remains a Christmas Day fixture ?

BBCAaron got a reaction from shippp in Radio 1 Dance and Relax
I don’t think so as that would mean changing the BBC charter to include permission to expand their DAB and DAB+ offering and would defeat the object of BBC’s digital future strategies, current budget and funding and competition limitations and constraints.
Radio 1 Dance and Relax already come under scrutiny when they launched in question of whether their are trying to monopolise on their competition. Whilst I imagine Relax and Dance streams attract listeners from the over 30’s and non Generation Z listeners. But considering the remit of Radio 1 is to focus on a youth audience especially trying to attract new under 25 listeners it wouldn’t feel like a fitting strategy and sensible use of the BBCs budget.
With BBC set to shut its Radio 4 Extra station possibly making a selection of archived comedies and dramas available for listeners exclusively through sounds after it shutting down. I can’t see them launching a new service if it isn’t to replace a current service.
I do wonder if they would in a cost cutting effort merge the World Service, BBC Radio 4 and 5 Live’s news programming to one service and end-up losing a one or two other speech stations to have a BBC Radio News that can carry mix of simulcast broadcasts with BBC News (TV) and putting flagship and leading programming like Westminster Hour, Today, Business Daily with having a tighter and smaller news and speech content package.
I kind of see streams like BBC Radio 1 Relax and BBC Radio 1 Dance more these days like the streams on BBC iPlayer that are compared to FAST style channels. As they launched a Louise Theroux and History channel playlist of rotating content available on the service on a live feed yet to feature on the in-app EPG. But, it’s much like the festival streams where you have some live content but simulcasted.
The BBC is unlikely to launch any new services on the medium of FM or DAB radio or standard terrestrial channels featured on satellite broadcasting and see the BBC even moving BBC Three back online by 2028 (big mistake to bring back on tv). But with that smart speaker to people listening on the go to radio or any audio via apps on their phone it’s not the obvious place to put it.
With such streams though the BBC should arguably consider ditching the ‘1’ since content from other stations has featured from time on the streams. Arguably I think that there are many other shows that could fit the ‘Relax’ umbrella like Cillian Murphy’s series on 6 Music, Unclassified from Radio 3 and Angela Griffin’s Radio 2 show. Sherelle on 6M could fit Dance station but show could Jeremiah Asiamah and Tiffany Calver’’s programmes on 1X

Great addition to the Christmas billing something I might have to catch up later on sounds after it goes out sounds like a fun show.

Do you know - that's a really valid point.
I never listen closely to Dean and Vicky but I get the impression that little or nothing has really stuck.
Compare to Vick and Jordan where many features have stuck over two years.

It’s disappointing to see the slump of the quality of the lunchtime to school rush afternoon programme. I’d thought their ideas and features would’ve developed and had one staple leading feature that could draw in audiences and become must listen and had some guests on programme. I don’t think some wise choices have been made of late

It would be good but there will be some reason, my theory is that Global or Bauer would see it as a way to avoid ads indirectly without paying. But also you would not kept in a captive environment to just leave it on which is what wallpaper radio stations lives on

Cat Burns is one of the people I would love to get on my podcast that I host seeing that she has said she is autistic and has adhd would be a guest I’d like to manage to get on much like I would like to chat to Katie Thistleton about her ADHD.
When it comes to next year I’d like to see The Last Dinner Party, Bar Italia, English Teacher, Kneecap, Say She She are the only predictions I can come up with gives you the vibe I’ve morphed into a 6 Music listener and becoming out of touch with the pop that radio 1 has been playing of course know I’ll not going to tick many names of but looking forward to what names I’m going to discover

I mean it’s only been a couple of frequent days recently but it much feels that it has been the indie show that has been more vacated especially when Jack was covering Clara this summer on future sounds.

It to be very good addition to the stations schedule over the festive period especially when it was rare that you would have repeated tracks of repeated in the chart from previous years.

Think that Lifehacks will have a fortnight rest over Christmas and will return on the first sunday of January. They could easily keep 00s and 10s shows if they wanted to theme them around the Christmas songs of the two decades playlist Justin Bieber, Sia and Michael Bublé for the 10s Darkness for the 00s sure they can think of some others.

It kind of feels lik they could end up getting a pool of the best of the future generation presenters over the past few years for the Christmas season. Assume that waiting to announce specials can imagine that in the next week that announcements will start to see some of the tv and radio highlights starting to be announced for the special Christmas new year stuff

BBCAaron got a reaction from Old Codger Fan in My radio day
Yes, like @Old Codger Fan said unlikely to happen and what you said some broadcasters like Global would hate it and Jono think thats the main reason it would never happen. At least on-demand radio experience is vastly improving.

BBCAaron reacted to Jono in My radio day
Guessing some broadcasters would hate it, but consumer-wise it's a great idea.

That's an excellent idea. So excellent, that it will probably never happen ...

I think those radio player/ tune-in apps are missing out on a tool where you can create your own radio calendar if I had set radio routine that is station hoping it would be good to create your own schedule so it switches seamlessly without going into different apps or opening app and jumping to different service. I’m very on-demand but most of the time its a mix of Times Radio and 6 Music. But use a lot of podcasts, playlists and on-demand listening.

Agreed, with Rylan, Scott, Angela Griffin, DJ Spoony spinning 00s tracks on 2 it would be a better fit.
