I’d keep the new presenter spotlight Christmas special but do it with more piloted specialist music and entertainment comedy ideas. I’d potentially maybe have some listener curated or polled bits that inform the Christmas limbo gap with some future focused content of music and culture. I like the blend that having something of Future Artists can deliver but early but doing at 8 is an odd one. think something like Power Down should be post midnight or maybe just scrapped from daytime and embedded into Sunday with scrapping Anthems on Sunday morn. Can’t comment on Greg’s show don’t listen. Only thing I’ll say about Scott show id dump golden moments when they do additional golden podcast drop on Friday and maybe have presenters dropping in on features swap brother or lover. id keep Best New Pop Just extend it for an hour

I think with Jordan and Scott seen to be people with flexible work schedules and probably there’s contracted agreements to allow for extra work and special programming like Christmas and New Year. Think Nick probably had more weeks allocated of it felt like that anyway. I do feel that the New Years night should’ve always had a dance specialist and some mixes that Radio 1 typically do to soundtrack nightlife and party sounds. With the poppy playlist feel should be left to Radio 2. I think having some party anthems themed playlists in the day would’ve been good like Indie Party with Jack Saunders Pop Party with Mollie King Soul Party with Victoria Jane then go to the chart then have the evening with presenters like Jeremiah Asiamah, Sarah Storey with maybe some mini essential mixes thrown in. I mean if listening to Radio on New Year’s Eve either be 6 Music or Capital Dance

I mean seems like Scott is getting quite a bit of work feel like his Christmas Day evening will be made a playlist highlight on the bbc sounds app. Think it seems like there will be for a while some worthwhile content to seek out and listen to on Christmas Day. If don’t catch live theres going to be some decent stuff to listen back on the iplayer and feel BBC Sounds will make thing to highlight in Christmas programming package. Felt that a breakfast 6 o’clock or 7 o’clock start works better given that some listeners may wake up earlier on Christmas Day and having breakfast then but depends on what shapes peoples Christmas routines

Will keep an eye out for the schedule announcement then, i do think that best of the year or specials of Jordan and Vick and other daytime shows will make for a good change think its better to have artist take over dripped out over festive period to back to back. Yes on the conversation thread for Christmas and New Year surely would have plenty to talk about then think then after the Christmas and new year assume when BBC Sounds app will be updated with the new imaging. I can’t see it being too different from previous years look to see what is on Radio 1/2 and 6 Music. These days they seem to centre content around what people may want to listen and on the sounds app to have a request take over and different specials would be good

Guess maybe a signal of how Sian Eleri’s show is pre recorded must’ve been only one able to get into do it out of all the shows Jordan covered even though only for half of it. Am sure this is his first time covering a specialist music programme

@NathanS you’re right he does weekday afternoons as well on Kiss Fresh wish from what Ive heard from Kiss I prefer Kiss fresh for the newer song choices. With some of BBCs new adverts for Hottest Records and 1 Xtra’s new podcast featuring new logos so does the Radio 1s channel section of the iplayer have its new logo. Does anyone else think that very early January that the rebrand of BBC Sounds app and logos come in and presenters will be promoting shiny new logos on the app and new designs but same old content.

If it was me id permanently keep Friday earlies with monthly presenting talent talking over as a showcase and a good platform for new talent to have such platform support emerging names think Jess would maybe if they did reduce Dean to Friday and Saturdays maybe having a Sunday morning show playing chill pop and classic chilled anthems but with few fun Entertianment features would be good addition to the schedule and tone of a sunday morning

It seems like this years festive period is a reduced intake for debut presenters but think that having ‘Best of’ pre packaged content shows are a good idea maybe something that can add few pre recorded links some of the behind the scenes relaxed chats about behind the scenes chat would be good to shoehorn when its more of a relaxed approached to doing radio. I think the all star Christmas things with Charli XCX would be good. Like think having across Radio 1, Radio 1 Xtra and Radio 2 having some comedy entertainment shows for the evenings would be interesting. Used to like the 10 hour take over having that on Christmas Eve or the 23rd would be good falling in the days before Christmas when people are travelling home to families or doing last minute shopping etc. Personal taste never was as keen on the whole Teen awards highlights shows they used to do mainly with audiences deafening noise Chart of the Year feel should come back and never shouldve been dropped some highlights of the live music from the livelounge, big weekend, future sounds and Christmas top i of the pops should have space in Schedules. When they did Scott and Chris’s banger special days was good. I find for any station the Christmas period is an interesting to see what stuff experiment or come up with to get listeners tuning in. Something i enjoy listening to over the seasons especially in a rest moment or nothing on tv

It could be the case like with Shaun Keaveney’s departure and Nemone and Kershaw at 6 music only used for semi regular series and cover that there could’ve been a budge to regenerate some of the schedule and an idea for Grimshaw to move on. Agree and something that i could imagine with the new branding of bbc radio sounds apart from possibly new bbc sounds oriented podcasts and playlists possibly no. That there wont be much on air change nbut when the new logos and new design for bbc sounds its likely that they may go for new marketing and promotion across television and social media as then think the stations with have different taglines and some PR cosmetic changes to have fresh ads. Probably think then BBC Sounds may get a new advert and promotions. Interms of the BBC R1 Livelounge think on BBC Two maybe eaerly evening prime would work as not convinced on BBC Three on tv again. Interms of the promotions that BBC Radio 1 does next year think as BBC is 100 then and Radio has always been something BBC has done it would be good to have a nod to the evolution and the timelessness of radio and radio stations like Radio 1. But with a lot going into the rebrand and abit of tv airtime of tv programme links featuring tv liscense advertisements maybe Radio 1 hasnt got the most in budget for television adverts

Couldn’t agree more, even know Kiss’s app is looking to offer livestreams of events on their app and content like that . Think with the desire to get more people to listen to the programming that radio 1 has live or has on bbc sounds use it to show what’s coming up on different shows with menu of features that’s coming up like on twitter a tweet of what’s on Scott’s show what’s hottest record make it a staple point of doing daily like that in bbc sounds get behind the scenes clips of artists practicing ahead of live lounge or some bloopers of pre recorded content. There’s simple cost effective ideas of better social media use that capital Dance knows how to do aswell as Jazz FM or any risks station like Times, LBC etc think cross brand whether 6 Music, 5 Live Radio 1 … feel social media was better prior to BBC sounds arguably with people want modern and cohesive branding surely that should change narrative and have different strategy to social media. As do think that currently there are some imaging issues that BBC need to resolve to be favourable with the consumer

I mean least with them primarily radio personalities and presenters hopefully the age of celebrity and commercial radio 2 may conclude

Interesting trail of pairing would’ve thought Matt & Mollie may have got if I know Cel & Katie covered that slot one or twice before together think Katie had presented with quite a few presenters so far but feel she would’ve done good solo. Think one time having someone like Jeremiah Asiamah covering Dean would be interesting.
