  1. Think nothing against her personally she is competent and a capable broadcaster. I think that maybe she’d been better of being able to have a lot of television work and big television job as think she can develop and have a successful career. Think there maybe more the consensus of a neutral vibe
  2. I agree with your point think in terms of what she does that may have tempted radio 1 at the time I’m clueless of the rationale about having her to take on the show that people don’t tune in because the presenter is on but because its Radio 1 and set features or such. I find with no insult a lot of stations have presenters that you tune in because you like the station and just stably occupying the airwaves and having a voice on the station
  3. @Old Codger Fan I sure at the time was the lone wolf that thought she wasn’t going to get the show. Whilst she was ok and fine enough replacement for when Annie Mac was on holiday or was feeling ill. But she didn’t seem to be someone that anchored the authority the show needs. But think she from few times have tuned in hasn’t been a presenter that made sure that I didn’t turn off and hasn’t been a presenter that has felt that I should want to keep listening. I get the tone of voice as if you are talking about a new song, album, band or artists as Future Sounds requires need to be able to sell it and get people to be looking up said album or artist. Think having her continue on mid mornings would’ve given the daytime bit more stability and I think is one of the prestigious slots on any station. Don’t know whether the curation has changed but doesn’t feel too much like most streaming playlists.
  4. Yes, just hope that they in the music tab of BBC Sounds make the new music shows the star headliner and nicely set a playlist and compartment of shows and playlists that have new music
  5. I found that overall whilst it was obvious some improvement will need to be made on the new music fix show but there were plenty of new tracks that Shazammed in that show and found it was good blend of music and look forward to see it evolved. Do find that BBC has a problem with having so many of their new music shows overlapping on the airwaves like Future Sounds and Future Artists overlap and Radio 2’s show that has more new music than others Jo Whiley’’s show does overlap. But maybe for the elder 6Music listener who may not gel with Tom and Deb maybe there could be change of focus. That said over the past few years it has been good to see that the BBC have worked on developing cross network brands of programmes and content on new music that are suited to the change in listening habits.
  6. It will be interesting what Marc and Gid sound like together doing a whole show together for two days of the week. I hope they can get their listeners on board with the changes
  7. Since its at the end of the month they may correct it on the schedule like how New Music Fix Daily on 6 Music is doing their shows from there that week it would’ve been good if they had Future Sounds coming from there as-well I do think that maybe next year the BBC should consider changing name of introducing tent to BBC Sounds tent
  8. How interesting in his long time career at the BBC (well ten years or just under) would be Ace’s first only time presenting exclusively on radio 1 without a simulcast with 1Xtra. I’m surprised that 1 Xtra aren’t carrying a repeat of Victoria Jane’s show in their 10PM-Midnight slot on either Wednesday and Thursday
  9. I find its interesting venue change to go from tent to stage. I assume that tent might’ve helped enclosed the sound from other areas. But seems to put support to the ‘Future Sound’ stage which interesting since the changes of when the ‘Future Sounds’ brand of programmes were introduced think theres been more synergy and blended playlist of the stuff you hear on night time to the daytime playlist. Given the fact that Raye has written many of pop songs and has been building up a strong R&B/Dance back catalogue now number 1 artist rightly has earned a good turnout.
  10. I don’t think it would be the last. I’d be surprised if it is but given the state that how 6 Music changed their festival going forward to only reside in greater Manchester it may consider changes.
  11. I know they stripped back over the years how they put out the festival as they used to be able to watch the radio like a music channel on the red button or iPlayer and you don’t have the whole station family out there as unsure if Victoria Jane, Jeremiah Asiamah and Nels Hylton there. I don’t see it as being game over as it would be incredibly disappointing to see such an event go away that has brought music gigs and acts to towns and cities that they would’ve never played to getting new audiences and can be some acts first major festival and has improved important exposure and highlights and showcases the names the station has championed and delivers different names than the stations rival giving space for new comers like FLO, Cat Burns, Piri and Georgia. I would say that elements have been cut down as it isn’t something that Radio 1 Xtra don’t engage with anymore and the social media and video content has reduced. But think Aled and Lorna in management will see the importance of such events and consider how to sustain it going foreward.
  12. I found with Relax stream theres too much but not enough as its just a constant spin and that curation can be good but I think its one thing maybe lost with BBC Sounds and streaming platform is only five years ago I’d listen to Phil Taggart live or catch-up in sixth form. Think there’s that challenge of keeping something edge and working for so long. I preferred the station much more before the streams but find myself even with stuff that I might would listen to, listening to less. I think music platforms getting more personal and crafted with recommendations takes the edge with it and of course things develop and evolve. But, found BBC Sounds a good platform but I think even at the age of 22 I’m now bit nostalgic for the station and how you’d quite listen to things once before.
  13. I get that sometimes its that feeling its hard to find words for guess it had a bit more of an edge and felt bit more fresh.
  14. I’m curious to learn of what you say those risks were. Phil Taggart is a talented music broadcaster did good with the chillest show as did when covering for Annie or Huw. I found though I liked him still doing the 7pm-9pm slot will always found the show was better when it was starting from 10pm as listeners are winding down and getting to sleep. That said think maybe with the Relax stream feed maybe the type of show it has maybe has been diluted? Not certain.
  15. Controversially I don’t think she is any worse than Greg James
  16. I don’t know whether I liked but wouldn’t say I disliked her on Radio 1 but found her way more preferable to what she is like when she is on television. Think natural low-key stripped back nature of radio found her more preferable and not as forced or overdoing it that arguably from the last time I listened to daytime radio 1 has been like. But find Katie Thistleton makes a stronger broadcaster for the slot. But found arguably she didn’t over-do it or force it as seen how Greg James, Charlie Hedges to Craig Charles has done at times when listened to his 6 Music’s show and found flicked on Jack Saunders show he was way over-doing and feel his emphusiasm and description of music isn’t far from when he started the show and by now listeners, regular ones know what they tuned in for. On that basis, she I found was an easy listen but neither one fo a strong opinion for me.
  17. I think thats a fair comment to make I like Sian Eleri. But what does well is at being fairly ordinary and for a music programme is good for just keeping the music coming for the genre of chill programme fits the bill as its meant to be easy listening
  18. I’ve heard a few times Charlie Hedges present Dance Anthems haven’t found myself feeling impressed. Maybe controversially should’ve stayed with Kiss: Rickie, Melvin & Charlie.
  19. Also the official chart due to how repetitive and little that the official charts change week in week out should just be embedded into Friday night drive than have its own show as a more compact run-down so if its a track that’s been at number one for five weeks or in the chart for almost to a year wouldn’t play it. Only really focusing on airtime of new chart entrants and major chart changes for song plays. And with the album chart maybe have it read out in a music news bulletin on 6 Music. And just have the chart update in Future Sounds.
  20. When I joined this platform forum I think I shared my fair share of unpopular takes and comments. One unpopular opinion is that the station for generation z is probably rather marmite.
  21. I preferred her on Radio 1 as to her as a television presenter. As with radio you aren’t judged on personal image, how you present yourself but more rather the quality of broadcaster. I find not a comment on Jama herself but when people comment on her presenting TV its less about her personality and presenting talent but rather her image.
  22. Must say I’m very late to comment but find the choice of having New Music Fix Daily overlapping with the last hour of future sound bit odd. Can see the reasons of appetite for change of the evening schedule as feel that the BBC’s stations new music programming on its mainstream music stations should be targeted to cross station listeners and try to attract a Radio 1 and 6 Music listener to listen in between the two stations for new music.
  23. Don’t remember since he starting his golden hour apart of maybe one week ever having Golden Hour covered.
  24. I mean the station never strays beyond a certain thousand tracks. Its a station same music each day but different order type of station to his older audience it will prove successful and will do decent job to 4-5 million listeners at his peak. The station is predictable and so is Ken Bruce with radio predictability leads to popularity example with pop masters and review with the adjustments to 6 Music evening line-up
  25. One thing with official confirmation of the claim that Ken Bruce contract was terminated prematurely and has been given early dismissal for conflicts of interests regarding doing same job at a competitor and being a key component of their oppositions brand. With this point I don’t get how say GB News political reporter gets booked (Tom Harwood) for programmes like BBC’s Question Time and Politics Live. Another comparison could be with Jane Garvey and Fi Glover’s move to Times Radio in which they continued to air their final ‘Fortunately’ episodes when their new podcast ‘Off Air’ of their Times Radio show was running at the same time until end of last year
