Betty is not only an older person's name
As the heatwave continues, Scott and Chris ask to hear from actual "Sweaty Bettys". Scott assumes there will be few young listeners with the name, but the calls quickly prove him wrong. A 22-year-old Betty from Chatham describes coping with the temperature alongside her husband Will, while another Betty works near a fan in a Lincolnshire woollen mill.
The callers turn a familiar phrase into a roll call of real people enduring hot bedrooms, workplaces and [...]
The humiliating new doorbell
A friend replaces Scott's broken doorbell with one that plays an embarrassingly jaunty tune. It sounds enough like an ice-cream van to confuse visitors and neighbours, and Scott suspects that his former flatmate may have helped choose it. The apparently minor household repair begins a story that will continue as Scott discovers the bell has several selectable songs.

A weekend of awkward DJ sets
Scott describes DJing for Staffordshire Young Farmers, where the electrical supply failed and beer was thrown as the crowd reacted to the interruption. At another appearance in Milton Keynes, a security guard mistook him for an ordinary member of the audience and pushed him back into the crowd while he was trying to take a selfie.
The stories leave Scott wondering how recognisable he really is when he steps away from the Radio 1 studio.

Matt takes Scott's chair
Scott is away, so Matt Edmondson presents with Chris. Their working day is repeatedly interrupted by Pokémon Go, which has spread through the BBC as rapidly as it has through the rest of the country.
The main event is Scott and Chris's pre-recorded conversation with David Guetta in Paris shortly before the Euro 2016 final. Guetta has arrived after travelling through Sicily, Serbia and Ibiza and has spent three hours rehearsing a closing-ceremony production involving an o [...]
Is Gary working beside her?
An anonymous listener, disguised with a voice changer and called Dave for the conversation, suspects that a new colleague may be Unlucky Gary. The evidence is that he has mentioned being dumped at an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet, an unusually specific misfortune that listeners already know from Gary's story.
Scott suggests testing him with Gary's old on-air alias, "Gary Bint". The listener calls the name across the office twice, but the colleague shows no sign of re [...]
Bamboleo and the perfect selfie
Bamboleo returns after the previous Wednesday was disrupted by Scott and Chris's Euro 2016 journey. The programme also considers research claiming that young women spend around five hours each week taking selfies. Chris introduces the supposed facial expression for a perfect picture, "the prune", although his pronunciation briefly sends the conversation in a much less suitable direction.

Mum enters the group chat
Lea returns with an update about her best friend Lauren, a personal trainer who has begun training Lea's mother. The arrangement has expanded far beyond exercise: her mother joins their group chat and Snapchat conversations, invents nicknames for everyone and goes with Lauren on a day trip to Matlock involving fish and chips and a rowing boat.
Lea initially feels displaced as the two become increasingly close, but now accepts that she is effectively the third wheel in a [...]
Home from the final on two hours' sleep
Scott and Chris return from Paris after providing alternative commentary on Portugal's victory over France in the Euro 2016 final. With around two hours' sleep, they reconstruct the journey and preview a short Road to Paris film documenting the assignment.
Their trip included meeting David Guetta before the closing ceremony, where he performed with Zara Larsson, and spending time around experienced football broadcasters. Once the match began, however, Scot [...]

Paris proves the experiment works
Scott and Chris return from France after commentating on the Euro 2016 semi-final between France and Germany. They replay some of the most excitable moments and compare their unconventional approach with the restrained sound of conventional radio coverage. The response has been far more positive than Scott expected.
Alan Shearer calls with another surprise. He says they passed the semi-final test with flying colours and invites them back to cover Sunday's France [...]
