16 September 2021: Rag’n’Bone Man reviewed Griff as Superfan Steve unnerved Rebel Wilson

It was 100 days until Christmas

Somebody had noticed the date.

Exactly 100 days remained until Christmas.

For Scott, that created a dangerous question.

Could he play Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You?

Listeners divided immediately.

Some demanded it.

Others threatened to disown the programme if Christmas music appeared in September.

Scott initially agreed it was too early.

Then he remembered he had done exactly the same thing the previous year.

Eventually he made the decision.

The Christmas seal was broken.

Mariah played.

Scott refused to look at the angry messages until after the show.

Rag’n’Bone Man reviewed his own Live Lounge

Rag’n’Bone Man joined after performing in the Live Lounge.

Scott and Chris again used their favourite post-performance format.

Make the artist listen back while the adrenaline is still fresh.

Rag’n’Bone Man chose to review his cover of Griff’s One Foot in Front of the Other.

He explained that he had first properly discovered Griff around the BRITs and thought the song was simply excellent pop.

Listening back, he immediately began questioning details.

Was a lyric right?

How did the bass sound?

Had he performed it as well as he thought?

Then he surprised himself.

The performance sounded better than he had feared.

BTS Army had educated him too

The conversation also touched on Rag’n’Bone Man once admitting he had barely heard BTS.

Rather than responding with anger, BTS fans flooded him with recommendations.

He realised he had somehow missed one of the biggest bands in the world.

Scott recognised the experience.

Discovering BTS late often means discovering the Army at exactly the same time.

Superfan Steve met Rebel Wilson

The archive then returned to one of the best Superfan Steve editions.

The celebrity was Rebel Wilson.

She believed she was taking part in a quiz against an unusually knowledgeable fan called Steve.

In reality, Steve was Chris sitting nearby with the answers in front of him.

He interrupted quickly and repeatedly.

Rebel’s drink of choice?

A Coke Slurpee.

What had she hallucinated while suffering malaria?

Winning an Oscar — a vision she later said helped encourage her acting ambitions.

What did her mum do?

She became an international dog-show judge.

What school score had Rebel achieved?

Around 99.4.

Steve knew everything.

Rebel started to think she had a stalker

The questions became increasingly specific.

Allergies.

Old movie quotes.

Personal history.

Rebel joked that Steve might be stalking her.

Eventually Scott had to confess.

Steve was not a real superfan.

Steve was Chris.

Rebel had been competing with somebody who already possessed the answer sheet.

Scott then replayed the awkward apology afterwards and admitted the grovelling was almost harder to listen to than the prank.

Chloe from Love Island became quizmaster

Chloe from *Love Island* also appeared to host the quiz.

Her social-media followings were compared with populations.

The team also noticed she sounded as though the post-*Love Island* round of parties and appearances might have given her something resembling Freshers’ Flu.

One episode had therefore managed to combine Christmas in September, a Live Lounge, BTS education, Rebel Wilson and Love Island.
