Unofficial Mills is an independent fan site and community for UK radio. It began in 2004 as a small fan project celebrating the humour, chaos and unforgettable moments of Scott Mills’ time on Radio 1, and more than 20 years later it’s still going.
What we cover
Every day we write up the best moments from shows across stations including BBC Radio 1, Radio 2, 6 Music and Capital: the guests, the features, the on-air gossip and the moments listeners talk about. Each week we also round up who’s presenting, with stand-ins and schedule changes.
Alongside that is our archive of Scott Mills’ shows, with clips, podcasts and show diaries going back to the mid-2000s, and a daily look back at what happened on this day.
Who runs the site
Unofficial Mills is run by Jono Read, a journalist with a background in radio and digital news, with help from the team of volunteers who moderate the forums and look after the archive. We’re not connected to, endorsed by or paid by the presenters or stations we cover.
How we work
Our daily radio updates are produced with the help of AI transcription, and every one is checked by a person before it’s published. Our editorial standards explain how we do it and how we handle corrections.
