The funniest twist of the episode came when Jo Whiley and Zoe Ball revealed the results of their own Celebrity Traitors poll, asking listeners which of them would make the best traitor. Zoe admitted she fully expected to win, but 65% of Diggers backed Jo instead. "I'm appalled that you all think I would be a good traitor," Jo protested, insisting she would be "the worst traitor in the world" and would be voted out in round one.
Zoe shared a lovely story about bumping into two of the show's regular gardening guests, Ish and Michael Griffiths, at a club night she was DJing in Bristol. She described spotting them in the crowd mid-set, saying they turned up after a last-minute invite and ended up "properly raving", with Ish losing his voice from singing so loudly.
The pair also opened up on reader responses to last week's menopause workplace episode with Bridget Phillipson and Mariela Frostrup, reading out messages from listeners Tanya and Zoe about the difficulty of being heard about health issues at work, and the value of staff menopause networks.
Elsewhere Jo and Zoe debated whether the Girls reboot and a possible Friends reunion were good ideas, swapped notes on voice-note etiquette, cheered the government's new £100 "loudcasting" fines, and chatted to RHS expert Nick about reviving a battered lawn after the summer heatwave. Listeners were invited to send in spooky Halloween stories via WhatsApp or voice note.
