The specialist subject is chosen
Chris films Celebrity Mastermind in Manchester the following day. He will not be told who his competitors are, but he has finally selected a specialist subject and performs extremely well when Scott tests him during the programme.
The subject remains secret, despite listeners offering suggestions ranging from number-one singles to Watford Football Club. Dev is recording an edition on the same day, although neither knows whether they will be placed in direct compe [...]
Scott returns with airborne mash
Scott returns from holiday looking suspiciously refreshed, although he insists nothing has been altered. His principal discovery is much less glamorous: mashed potato mixed with gravy tastes completely different on an aeroplane, and he now considers the strange in-flight mush one of the highlights of the trip.
He also recognises a very posh former Apprentice candidate on the flight without remembering his name. Hours of searching finally identify the man as Raj D [...]
Toby returns to Breakfast
Twelve-year-old critic Toby joins Real or No Real during half-term. He has heard Honey G's Innuendo Bingo but complains that one of the week's podcasts failed to appear, prompting Scott to promise that somebody has received a stern word.
Toby's authority now extends beyond reviewing the afternoon show. He questions the schedule, catches up on missed editions and continues speaking as though he has a permanent production role.

Candice chooses a Banger
Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown looks back on watching the final with the other bakers, friends and family. She remains proud of the three-tiered pavlova, pig-shaped sausage rolls and elaborate gingerbread pub that included relatives behind the bar.
Candice then judges Bangers, choosing Gwen Stefani's “The Sweet Escape” over DJ Snake's “Turn Down for What”. The baking link helps Scott reclaim a song he believed was unfairly rejected the first time.

Old emails and a tiny helmet
Scott's phone unexpectedly downloads thousands of emails from 2009 and 2010, creating an unwelcome archive of old work, plans and forgotten conversations. He cannot explain why they have appeared or how to make them disappear.
In Real or No Real, Steph considers the claim that Matt Edmondson has demanded an X Factor parking space for his scooter and a tiny helmet. It sounds entirely plausible, but Matt is actually driven between Radio 1 and the television studio in a [...]
The Wolf of Worthing appears
During Breakfast cover, Scott and Chris discover Justin from First Dates, who introduces himself as the “Wolf of Worthing”. His talk of sports cars, superyachts and occasionally wishing for a normal life makes the self-appointed title impossible to ignore.
They later call James Arthur in bed before his Live Lounge. His early-morning voice sounds far removed from the one required at midday, but he promises it will recover in time for “Say You Won't Let Go” and the pla [...]
A huge day at Wembley
Scott and Chris look back on presenting the Teen Hero award at Wembley to Toby and his fellow winner, who have raised money in memory of their friend Aaron. Standing on the Teen Awards stage remains overwhelming, particularly when they look towards the enormous “Hello Wembley” sign at the back of the arena.
Scott also plants a tiny piece of background drama during Kel Spellman's interview with Shawn Mendes. Knowing the camera points towards them, he pretends to argue with C [...]
Scott is corrected at spin class
Scott is again selected as the bad example during an exercise class. The spin instructor places him under a spotlight, adjusts his hand and tells him to move his “booty” farther over the saddle.
He accepts that he was doing it incorrectly but dislikes the unfamiliar experience of being publicly told off. Chris notes that Scott's normal working life rarely includes anybody correcting him so directly.

The morning after Leeds
Scott and Chris return from the radio awards feeling fragile. Scott took a late-night pizza back to his hotel room, while Chris needed a complete care package after arriving without everything required for the morning.
The dry-cleaned suit appeared only minutes before their train, narrowly saving the evening. Their tiredness becomes an unfortunate backdrop when a caller arrives specifically to assess the quality of the programme.

The suit remains in transit
Scott and Chris prepare for a radio awards ceremony in Leeds, although Scott refuses to accept that it is genuinely the Oscars of radio. Chris has left his only suitable outfit with an app-based dry-cleaning service and is waiting for its same-day return.
The collection was late, the deadline is approaching and the vague dress code offers little reassurance. Scott has prepared properly, while Chris risks travelling north in whatever happens to be available when they l [...]
