Radio 1 checked in with Muff
St Patrick’s Day normally brought the same collection of green clothes, Guinness references and claims of distant Irish relatives.
Scott and Chris decided to call some actual Irish people instead.
They returned to the Muff Liquor Company in Donegal, first encountered through the old Funny Business feature and later visited by the show.
The call checked that Muff was doing well, remembered the very real Muff Diving Club and revived the fact that Scott and Chris had once been made honorary members.
It was exactly the sort of old show relationship which could disappear for years and then be revived by one calendar date.
Superfan Steve met Ozzy Osbourne again
The Golden Moment dug out one of the original Superfan Steve episodes.
The premise was cruelly simple.
A celebrity believed they were competing against an extremely nervous superfan called Steve.
In reality, Steve was Chris in another room with the answers in front of him.
This archive edition involved Ozzy Osbourne, with everybody except Ozzy knowing that the awkward caller did not really exist.
Scott admitted he barely remembered doing it, which made hearing the old audio almost as uncomfortable for him as it had been for the celebrity.
The Big Weekend rumour mill opened
The quiz then dealt in rumours about artists appearing at Big Weekend.
One question asked which act supposedly owned an axolotl, offering Lorde, Calvin Harris and Central Cee as options.
The answer was Lorde.
Scott and Chris also found themselves revisiting other half-remembered backstage stories and wondering which had actually been told on air before.
March was beginning to look forward to Coventry while simultaneously digging further into the show’s own archive.
