The ghost app had followed Amy back to work
A day after producer Amy’s haunted holiday, paranormal activity had apparently reached Radio 1.
Chris had become obsessed with a ghost-finder app which claimed to show spirits as dots before placing figures into the phone camera view.
He had already used it inside the Radio 1 studio and believed he had found multiple ghosts.
Listeners started downloading the same app and reporting demons from their own homes.
That encouraged the show to treat the technology with exactly the level of seriousness it deserved.
Could a Radio 1 microphone hear a ghost?
A listener suggested that if the ghosts were genuinely in the studio, professional broadcast microphones ought to be able to pick them up.
Chris loved the idea.
The team turned a microphone up far beyond normal studio levels while he moved around the room following the app’s supposed ghost locations.
Everyone had to remain completely silent while Radio 1 listened for supernatural evidence.
The experiment produced considerably more tension than useful paranormal science.
It did, however, turn an ordinary studio into the latest location for the show’s increasingly elaborate ghost obsession.
Chris had missed the International Women’s Day briefing
Elsewhere, Chris realised his wife had seemed slightly unimpressed that morning.
Then somebody pointed out it was International Women’s Day.
He called her live to ask whether he should have marked the occasion.
She explained that she was not necessarily expecting flowers, but some acknowledgement would have been nice.
Chris attempted to repair the situation while Scott enjoyed watching him discover the problem in real time.
Bangers then offered two big female anthems, giving the afternoon a more appropriate International Women’s Day soundtrack than Chris had managed before leaving the house.
