Daisy had a plan for Orlando Bloom
A member of the production team called Daisy admitted that, aged 11, she had been obsessed with Orlando Bloom.
For his birthday she found a photograph of him with two women, cut their faces out and replaced both with her own before turning it into a birthday card.
The goal was not simply to receive a reply. Daisy genuinely hoped some kind of relationship might begin because she wanted to marry Orlando and become “Daisy Bloom”.
She had even practised the signature and used an Orlando Bloom fan site where users could print novelty marriage certificates.
The listeners’ old fan mail became increasingly strange
Daisy’s confession opened the floodgates.
Robo from Reading remembered sending tennis player Anna Kournikova a necklace from Elizabeth Duke at Argos when he was 12. Another listener had sent Gabriella Cilmi a Twix, only for the singer to pass it to security because she had already eaten.
Hayley remembered trying to cheer up Britney Spears during a difficult period by sending her a scrapbook arguing against unflattering newspaper coverage.
Another listener, obsessed with Daniel Radcliffe, wrote to Emma Watson in the hope that she would pass the message on to him.
Chris had received cheese from Eric Cantona
Chris then revealed an extraordinary family connection he had apparently never told Scott.
While looking through old photographs with his mother, he spotted Eric Cantona at a wedding. His mother casually explained that she knew him from the years she had lived in France.
She got back in touch, and Cantona sent Chris a signed message and memorabilia — along with some cheese for his mother. The autograph had even ended up slightly stained by the cheese.
Scott was astonished Chris had been sitting on such a story for years.
