Scott feared pop stars had become completely overgrown
Hairdressers remained closed.
Scott and Chris looked at their own lockdown hair and then started worrying about artists who already had considerable amounts of it before restrictions began.
Blossoms were the main concern.
Their hair had hardly been restrained in normal times.
What did the band look like after months without proper grooming?
Scott wanted them to post photographic evidence.
Joel Corry also entered the discussion because even before lockdown he had what Scott described as slight Chewbacca energy.
By March 2021, the pair imagined entire pop careers disappearing beneath hair.
Rob Brydon provided the opposite extreme
Not every celebrity was in danger of becoming a yeti.
Scott pointed to Rob Brydon, whose Instagram suggested somebody at least was still managing to remain extraordinarily smooth.
The comparison became a running spectrum:
Blossoms at one end.
Rob Brydon at the other.
Listeners were asked which other celebrities they were worried about.
Granny Tinder sounded oddly regal
Lynette returned for another round of Granny Tinder.
During a Zoom conversation, somebody on the team suddenly decided her voice sounded a little like the Queen.
Once the idea had been planted, Scott could not stop hearing it.
Other moments somehow reminded them of Skepta too, which was not a comparison anybody had expected to make about an 80-year-old grandmother.
The profiles themselves received the usual treatment.
Lynette had no interest in weak lines, overconfident biographies or somebody trying to sell himself with a bit too much innuendo.
Bamboleo Wednesday lifted the mood again
The weekly Bamboleo ritual returned with the usual names, shout-outs and nonsense.
In another week of lockdown sameness, Scott regarded those few minutes as a reliable midweek mood-lifter.
Listeners already knew exactly what was expected.
Dance if possible.
Shout along if appropriate.
Do not ask why this one Gipsy Kings record had become so important.
