Lolathon week was about to begin
Scott and Chris reminded listeners that the Comic Relief build-up would begin the following morning with Greg James.
The aim was simple.
Make Radio 1 somewhere people could turn for a laugh after another grim period of restrictions.
The whole week would build towards Scott and Chris’s 24-hour broadcast on 11 March.
Guests were being confirmed.
Ideas were still being assembled.
The pair were clearly excited by how much of it had started to fall into place.
Kate’s date went wrong in spectacular fashion
It Was All Going Well Until… brought in listener Kate.
She was seeing a man for only the second time.
They went to the bedroom.
Then her cat started behaving strangely — frantically running around, climbing the walls and trying to get out.
Kate realised what had happened.
The cat had explosive diarrhoea.
It was over the man’s clothes.
It was on the bed.
It was up the wall.
The romantic moment ended instantly.
Kate responded like an emergency cleaner
Rather than panic, Kate jumped up, grabbed cleaning equipment and began dealing with the disaster.
She had even dressed for the occasion beforehand, which made the image of her suddenly becoming an emergency cleaning service even more ridiculous.
Scott assumed the date must have been horrified enough never to return.
He was wrong.
Kate said she was now married to him.
Her husband apparently found her efficiency in a crisis impressive.
Scott wondered whether, without the cat’s terrible timing, the relationship might somehow have gone differently.
Screenshot disasters continued
The show then returned to a modern dating hazard:
sending a screenshot to the wrong person.
One earlier caller had received a screenshot from a man who was trying to show her part of their own chat.
At the exact second he captured the screen, a message from another woman appeared at the top.
He sent the evidence straight over without noticing.
Other listeners admitted screenshotting conversations to send to friends and then accidentally sending them back to the person being discussed.
Scott’s emergency tactic was to flood the chat with memes, pictures and random material in the hope the incriminating screenshot would disappear into the noise.
He admitted this was not an especially sophisticated solution.
Sleeping Bunnies baffled the quiz
Don’t Look It Up included nursery rhymes and children’s songs.
The phrase Sleeping Bunnies appeared.
Scott and Chris reacted as though somebody had invented it on the spot.
Parents listening were much more familiar.
The quiz once again demonstrated how quickly apparently obvious childhood material becomes completely alien if it missed your own generation.
