Following this morning's announcement that Lady Gaga and Foo Fighters will headline the main stage of Radio 1's Big Weekend, we're excited to say that Swedish House Mafia and The Strokes will headline the In New Music We Trust stage.
On the Saturday, joining Swedish House Mafia is The Joy Formidable, Cage the Elephant, Nero, Panic At The Disco, Friendly Fires, and Everything Everything.
On the Sunday, joining The Strokes is The Vaccines, Two Door Cinema Club, Devlin, Pulled Apart By Horses [...]
Scott Mills has just announced on the breakfast show that BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend is coming to Carlisle for 2011!
The event will take place at Carlisle Airport on Saturday 14th May 2011 and Sunday 15th May 2011.

You know what really grinds my gears? How the Big Weekend over the last eleven years has failed to hit the Eastern region.

It also has notably favoured sites closer to the existing mainstream festivals such as Reading, Leeds, Glastonbury and V.

BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra are working on a new special event for 2012 set to be based in London around the time of the Olympic games.
The outdoor festival is being spearheaded by Jason Carter, who has been working behind the scenes on BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend over the past few years.
Little detail has been given about the event but it is intended to deliver something "extremely special" to the young people living in the boroughs around the Olympics site in East London.
