Beccy’s train waking-up face is exposed
After the trip back from Carlisle, Beccy confessed that the heat, the train movement and exhaustion had finally defeated her. She had tried not to sleep in front of colleagues, but could not prevent the inevitable sudden waking-up face.
The team decided it looked like the expression people make immediately before a powerful sneeze. Beccy tried to distinguish it from the equally private face people make during a massage, but the studio was not convinced.
Her complaint was made worse by the temperature on the journey. Beccy had already removed layers and joked that a “naked carriage” would have been welcome if the train had offered one.
The show also returned to the forthcoming Radio 1 Big Weekend, with Lady Gaga’s enthusiasm for the event becoming part of the build-up. Scott was clearly enjoying the suspense around the announcement.
As usual, an ordinary train journey became a full programme story. Beccy wanted the incident forgotten, while Scott and Chris treated the evidence of her brief nap as a public-service issue.
