  1. Was that not purely down to him wanting to get more into the journalism side of broadcasting?
  2. And you could imagine a gradual extension of the schedule. My suggestion of Arielle was twofold - firstly it coincides with her leaving Early Breakfast and secondly, she is the dance DJ with most extensive experience of mainstream presenting (except Charlie Hedges).
  3. I haven't been listening but does Jamie ever work Thursdays?
  4. Surely that is almost certainly going to be hosted by Arielle?
  5. End of week one. It's a great show actually and whilst we'd probably like some more of "chaotic Jordan" it sounds close to flawless for a new show. I am sure it helps a lot that Jordan already knew Chris and Sian well. Capital must be delighted as I am sure Roman would have been there for as long as he wanted so it must be great to have such a smooth transition.
  6. A lot of entertainment radio is a little or a lot less impromptu than it appears. I mean do we really think Greg James' "Sit Down, Stand Up" isn't pre-recorded and edited? And that's no criticism of anybody - we'd be missing out on stacks of great radio without this "theatre".
  7. Yeah me too. I mean I am enjoying it in a different way to some of Jordan's past shows. He is a bit less crazy but he is still funny and warm and it's just a good listen.
  8. Oh wow - that's great. The show is sounding really good but how long until Jordan says something that gets him told off? He has done really well so far not to!
  9. Would I much rather listen to Jordan and Katie on Radio 1 Breakfast Vs Capital Breakfast - yes. But you know I'm finding Capital Breakfast really pleasant listening and the music is certainly more wallpaper which given some of the current Radio 1 choices isn't a bad thing? I've also been finding Greg a little predictable in recent times.
  10. He isn’t not himself - if anything the disturbing part is that he is quite slick and professional ! I am liking the show but I was also enjoying Roman, Chris and Sian in recent weeks. It’s not laugh out loud radio mostly but it’s a nice listen and entertaining in the same way that say Saturday Night Takeaway is.
  11. Listening again this morning. I think Jordan is playing a bit safe but it’s a good listen and does not sound like a brand new show (in a good way). No doubt because everyone involved except Jordan has been working together and he seems to find it easy working with anyone.
  12. It’s definitely all much slicker and more corporate but hints of the old them which might emerge when show is less busy than today.
  13. Listening to the whole show it was actually a great fresh listen. It was very very busy with lots of first show stunts but still little nods to the Jordan we loved on Radio 1. Also, immediately he feels at ease with Chris and Asian. He definitely feels more slick and professional though.
  14. He had been a little too slick up to then. So far it’s all safe and commercial but a decent listen.
  15. Even with Roman, Sian and Chris took ownership of a lot of the features with the “senior host” very much anchoring.
  16. Clearly no offence was intended, Greg has apologised and learnt a lesson, that's the end of it as far as I am cocerned. I think on all these topics we need to distinguish between the behaviour of hate and poorly thought out comments. The first raises serious questions of what roles a person should be in and the second is a learning curve. We live in a more and more complex world and we could all fall foul of saying something stupid sometime without thinking.
  17. I do think some of Maya’s TV work is due to her looks which is back to the 70s mentality.
  18. There was also a joke in another episode where William told Jordan he'd replace him with Jamie Laing. Jordan says "I left"
  19. I wouldn't see the two as linked.
  20. Undoutedly the show annoys the bigots who don't like them for what they are. However, I simply don't like the show as it feels poor quality and out of sync with the sound of the station.
  21. Even at a simple level - why couldn't Nat have taken over immediately? It's not such an important slot that "oh no we spoil the impact of it being Nat and Vicky if we start Nat on her own first".....
  22. I was gutted when Jordan left - that was my favourite show on the station but I found Sam and Danni a decent replacement...whereas this...
  23. It's a bizarre thing though....it would be nice to hear a few more tracks from the past 10 years mixed into daytime. However, at the other extreme, I find it odd how often really old tracks come up on Anthems and even the likes of Soundsystem Party and Dance Anthems. The odd throwback is great but sometimes it feels too much.
  24. I hate reverse snobbery and I post this reluctantly as we shouldn't hold Jamie's background against him, but I do think many listeners will find it hard to identify with Jamie. One of the things that made Jordan so popular was he sounded like the mate you go for a pint with who always has a great story to tell.
  25. Absolutely - life would be dull if we all liked the same things
