  1. I find its very odd that this essential album programming pre-recorded and sounds first before any episode goes live on radio at 10PM time where still its not in the late hours and where people who still listening to radio at start of night shifts, university students studying and people preparing for the next day. Something that is either live or interactive is needed that used to be before even Jack Saunders launched the first indie slot. Having programming whether it’s music specialism, entertainment or conversational like lifehacks is better suited. I feel that mid-February to March either Power Down Playlist will return to the slot or then by spring there could be new late evening programming announced.
  2. I think eventually the reign of duos and presenter couplings is going to have to cease and fade out with costing cuts and pressure to make savings will make had to justify quantity of such numbers
  3. I can see a Breakfast Show from Salford being very possible but in the next time they have a major shift changes wonder if they would ever consider having a show from cities like Cardiff, Birmingham and Glasgow at different BBC buildings
  4. What if the next Breakfast host is just Katie Thistleton
  5. I mean there will always be vendors at a festivals regardless what demographics got to have some one who can offer retail mobile catering to be able to provide and sell food and drink for guests and usually events tends to be third party vendors.
  6. Ah if they festival planners wouldn’t assume that would 100% be in the north west but can understand the hunch and it could be likely a right hunch. I’m never one for heavy speculation. I mean it always depends on the calendar for local regions and councils. I suppose it all down to local planning regulation and the support within the council and locals. I mean it depends on how and when the process of selection and confirming a town or city for Big Weekend. It’s to wonder whether it would as an annual event that gets recommissioned every year without circumstances as that of a pandemic. All depends of when it is. As think Liverpool for Eurovision was only confirmed last autumn and there was much speculation even that could go to Glasgow. Think with Hackney that was a supersized Big Weekend with many a-list acts like Glastonbury would be all booked well in advanced and could time it right as the Olympic been on the calendar for several years and cities of culture tends to be decided a while in advance and the whole city of culture is confirmation that they are targeting that city to champion and be home of key cultural events where it gels quite well. You could be right but its to say what is the planning process that the BBC and its contracted events planning teams use
  7. I kind of think the genre specific and more late night specialist programming doesn’t need much prior experience of working on the station e.g Jack Saunders before getting 4 nights a week with the Indie Show and Rene didn’t do much on the station before he started.
  8. I mean I can see a time when Aled steps down and gets poached somewhere else to manage with the popularity of his focus on different programming like anthems, dance and relax on the station and building on air partnerships and championing new presenting talent. Do think that maybe Ben Cooper as someone who works at Bauer these days should maybe help lure Aled to head up Bauer’s Hits Radio and maybe Kiss included. He has had some ideas that have worked well. But, feel that he’s much achieved his change and taste of the station and gived it a different image before he started and that can tell for stations like Hits Radio who are trying to attract the wedge between Radio 1 and Radio 2 he has the eyes to make it work and feel its that there’s different ideas need to be on the table.
  9. At time I would thought a trio maybe good for breakfast. But with breakfast on the BBC it works best with at most two figures max.
  10. I think with the strategy Aled has taken to have more partnered and co-host style and return to a ‘zoo format’ maybe in the long run as the BBC continues to be under great pressure to find areas to cut and find ways of closing certain job posts. Think at one stage not his own call and interest but from powers above that there may need to be at the next schedule shake-up cuts in presenter numbers and the amount of duos and trios. I can see Rickie and Melvin being in the amongst the names that maybe out of the door of the station like Matt Edmonson & Mollie King. Though even with some good reviews I dont see where there will be room for Jamie Leng on the schedule. But if Rickie & Melvin did leave would think moving Dean & Vicky to drive and have Vick Hope to take mid mornings and Jordan North afternoons.
  11. I would think that it would be wild gambit just to assume because Liverpool have the Eurovision weeks before that would occur in Liverpool. That said wouldn’t cling on to this idea of the north west of england when it hasn’t been explicitly confirmed and haven’t been able to confidently state that for certain. Radio 1 on the covid lockdown cancellations being the sole factor on the delay of Dundee and the only conditional reason why. They would have had it last year in Dundee but went to Coventry. We don’t know how in advance talks start and these things you say that work would already been done but it depends on certain cities council and planning regulations and rules of whether that they would have to re-apply for the event and get new set of planning and that the council would have to decide on it themselves. As such things like this would need to have certain security risks and even a year delayed with plans they may need to see if anything’ needs to revise. In short there maybe more behind the scenes beurocracy involved. But with funding and the cost of living and public services for local government working to hold major events becomes a lot difficult
  12. I mean albums do tend to be different body of work and never in history of albums and radio stations has there been a station dedicated to albums. Interesting that most albums are greatest hits and that most singles from the year were songs not released in the year of 2022. Kind of same that popular music is often dominated by the same groups of artists and that group hoarding spaces on charts and harder for new talent breaks through. One shame I find with the streaming age is there is little space for newer artists to take top positions in the charts and get high turn over for number ones. Its common that a track can spend five-seven weeks at the top of the chart
  13. Think unless there would be issues reapplying for a major event with council permission. Is it 100% in the north west of England?
  14. Think the cover situation is very different these days whether there would be one presenter expected to cover most time slots and at any notice like Dev, Jordan Northand an extent Adele. With having multiple presenters like Emil and James Cusack. As Arrielle has done television work, other podcasts and DJing and other random bits. So maybe she isn’t as flexible but think she will of course be used in future to cover Dance Anthems and other key slots
  15. I hinted before they may go for one of the new jubilee cities. Think they going for a a new city will go for the BBC’s move to do stuff in areas outside the major towns and cities for events
  16. Think it kind of worked in the era of where you didn’t have every album at your disposal. I sometimes like the one off specials when say Billie Eilish, Calvin Harris, Biffy or Bruno had new albums out over the years to play their new albums and have bit of chat around it. But seems odd to make a show three times a week with albums over decades old. Think the odd anniversary special and playback as from time to time have been done on specialist slots of the schedule throughout the years at Christmas or Easter work. But both hope and don’t see it lasting long on the schedule and something they may change-up even early as February. Think thy could eventually announce Future Alternative, BBC Introducing Rock to occupy those slots or if they come up with one or two other shows for those slots.
  17. I can see her staying. But if they don’t give her a prime slot which trends of recent early morning presenters havent faired well in terms of promotions with Adele Roberts, Dev Griffin and Gemma Cairney. She would need to buck a trend. I wonder if this is the year that Kiss FM could replace Kiss Fresh with another nostalgia driven or more centred Dance or Bliss on DAB only to try to go and reach a more mass appeal that isn’t just dependent on a youth audiences on DAB. Compared to the names and the brand that Greatest Hits, Absolute and Hits Radio. It could be said Kiss could do with bit of attention. But can’t see this meaning that they poach a name like Arrielle Free. With Capital Dance they already got quite a packed line-up for a sister music playlisted station that they dont often offer the listener with presenters like MistaJam, Coco Cole, Charlie Powell, Matti Chaib, Zofia and Meg McHugh.
  18. Probably, I mean since he’s a senior creative producer of their breakfast show maybe they play a more important role on the stations output at Capital than 1
  19. Yes heard that it maybe something that may work in a biannual every two year set up. January 2024 could possibly be the next time where a major change happens. And maybe cost effective thing not to do it every year@NathanS
  20. I mean she would be good for doing for Dance Anthems but hopefully in a same way that Danny Howard did having guest mixes, remix feature and some sort of dance charts remember Danny Howards dance anthems had more feature focus output and that would be good for the saturday afternoon slot. As would rather give it more mix of the past present and future. Though think Jeremiah Asiamah could get there on Fridays or even Jaguar it would be good to maybe have over the weekend some new names who may have gone on a station like Reprezent or WorldWide FM to have a post midnight focus on new and or underground classic feel. Like when the station had presenters like B.Traits and Monki. Very unlikely to happen. But think for the station eventually names like Arrielle Free, Charlie Tee, Jaguar, Jeremiah Asiamah and Sarah Storey should be the leaders of the Dance/Club sounding shows on the station
  21. Yep, I mean the spin and brand protection PR campaign is fighting a campaign it cant win over. If create new spaces for younger talent of course if broadcasters who want more work by choice and didn’t leave a programme by choice not to retire or spend time with family or focus on personal health they will be open to new work outlets. Maybe not a problem for younger focused stations like Radio 1 or 1 Xtra but when comes to departments like BBC News, Radio 4 and 2. Theres more likely to be that growing trend of giving less work to or retirement redundancies played out as creating space for new talent for older presenters to enjoy more time with families and such when they announce the full details of the new BBC News TV rebrand as they shed names from the news room and diminishing the numbers of anchors. Think there maybe few departures to write about this year from BBC Radio thats my feeling.
  22. Ha flick over just now. Sure they could just have them as audio doubles so when Katie and or Vick are ill or on holiday they could still claim to be on radio. It must be a delight when you find two presenters who just fit together being paired up for first time going on air. @TheSaviourisHere
  23. Annie Macmanus, Huw Stephens out of recent past names I can pluck would go with a permanent slot on 6 Music. Benji B is only current one on radio 1 I can pluck out who would move into 6 at the minute. But think Jack Saunders has a much longer career on Radio 1 to go before he moves on maybe one day in time he could go to a station like 6
  24. I really don’’T see Clara moving to 6 Music it would be the wrong fit would see her music taste as having a more mainstream sound she could fit in few years if Jo retired for her slot something like that show. But future 6 Music presenters think they got few being lined up
  25. I do kind of get the feel that the BBC may not be the one that would double the hours for its elder presenters. Think how nudged Steve Wright to do less and know part of the reason that Jane Garvey and Fi Glover left BBC Radio and Sounds to Times Radio was how little the BBC was using them before they left they were only left with a weekly podcast. Now one that airs four days a week accompanied with live radio show. Think if you are older the reasons older presenters leaving is not going to get more hours and opportunities.
